The way Darius Acuff is talked about on here is very weird to me and I think I’m just gonna stop engaging with it cause it’s not coming from a place of objectivity
Wonder if Washington is taking Darryn regardless but is trying to leverage Utah to move up to 1, Celtics-Tatum situation. Cause if not and they haven’t promised Darryn anything, not working out for at least the top 3 could be a mistake
Developments ahead of the June 23-24 NBA draft: BYU's AJ Dybantsa has conducted formal visits with both the Washington Wizards (No. 1) and Utah Jazz (No. 2) while Kansas' Darryn Peterson only visited the Wizards and does not plan to grant anyone else a meeting, sources tell me and @JeremyWoo.
Both have believed in going No. 1 -- and now teams in the lottery are taking note of Peterson's decision to only give access to Washington.
@JBBHoops1 Yeah the grit/toughness pops in a major way and I think will make him effective against teams/lineups deploying a traditional sized PG early on
*Very* recently rewatched this game and the number 1 takeaway was how easy it was for Acuff to get Kingston to his hip but also that Kingston pretty much never got put all the way in jail behind Acuff
@JBBHoops1 My big fear is he’s a multi year project to get the strength needed to be the kind of defender he’s capable of being against nba size/athletes
@JBBHoops1 Totally agree with the tendencies. Hesitancy to shoot 3s is not gonna play as a starting primary ball handler and he rushes into the middy way too often. The playmaking wasn’t nearly as good as I would like it to be with that scoring outlook
@JBBHoops1 His driving is not respected enough. And the way it plays with his playmaking is just phenomenal, all-nba ceiling stuff. His guys got so many great looks cause he demanded an insane amount of attention as a driver
@FlaggistheMasia Yeah I’ll be off here for at least a couple days if it happens cause I can’t handle the fanbase bitching and moaning about it while they wanted Burries who does nothing for us in terms of post-Kyrie roster outlook
@JBBHoops1 Can’t say I’m overly familiar with their personnel or team in general outside of their identity kind of being the same as it always has been, be tough as shit and give teams hell defensively. But they don’t respect turkey at all lmao playing a mid block at worst out of possession
Not sure if I should be more scared of Australia cause of how they’ve played in this game or if I should dramatically lower my respect for Turkey and consider less than 3 points in our game against them a disappointment
The number is currently much lower than 42. Its not a coincidence that this issue was so obvious in earlier rounds and they gave up sizable leads in every game of the finals. Conditioning isn’t there and it might never be with the energy expenditure it takes to move that frame
Haven’t tweeted anything about it yet but a regular thought I’ve had in this series, and again with Vic bent over sucking wind now in the 3rd quarter, what if he just can’t play 42 minutes in multiple playoff games per series at any point in his career due to his size?
We’ve reached “actually his shooting this season was fake” as a narrative rather than “yeah this really young player improved as a shooter from senior year of high school to freshman year of college”. First insanely productive 19 year old to have any improvement totally ruled out
