Yes. Article 51 of the UN Charter affirms the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member State. Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 meets that threshold. Ukraine has invoked Article 51, and its defensive military actions are supported under the Charter provided they are necessary and proportionate. Multiple UN General Assembly resolutions have condemned the aggression and reaffirmed Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

@ladyonorato Not really when they are coming under sustained bombardment from Russian misses aimed at civilian centres.

[Steve Doyle @Doyle1Steve]

@GoodwinMJ Of corse there is a cordinated campaign by the Tories to revive their party, its their job to do that. Much like there is a coordinated campaign to discredit them from their political opponents, such as yourself.

Imagine if Europe, in the days after 9/11, had cleared its throat and announced: We have struck a tremendous deal with Osama bin Laden. We have lifted the sanctions on his organization, so he is now free to trade on the open market and bankroll his war against the United States. Bush must step down. The man has no cards.

Has he even looked at his hand?

But no. Europe did nothing of the sort. Europe did not sit down with a mass murderer and come home gushing about what a strong and reasonable fellow he turned out to be.

Europe laced up its boots, flew to Afghanistan, stood shoulder to shoulder with the Americans and hunted that bearded wretch through every godforsaken mountain in the country, because that is what you do when a friend gets hit, and handing the attacker a shopping list while telling the victim to surrender is what you do when you have lost your mind.

@Bubblebathgirl Of course Trumps own activities against Iran has nothing to do with it. Roll on the mid-terms

Watch this - Labour at its finest. It's a great plan , I haven't seen it and those who have resigned but by golly it's a good plan.

[Steve Doyle @Doyle1Steve]

@EthanLevins2 In which universe is this a fact?

[Steve Doyle @Doyle1Steve]

@RussellCochran Thank you for such a cogent, well thought through political discourse. Go a little easy on the CAPS in future.

[Steve Doyle @Doyle1Steve]

@AmericaFirstCon Zelenski proposes a democratic movement to oppose politics he disagrees with. You on the other hand advocate a CIA coup to oppose politics you don't like. I know who is on the right side, and it isn't you.
