In other words — and contrary to all the lies told about the Dublin rules, including by Stephen Kinnock on Question Time — we took more people in under them than we sent back. End of.
I am calling for a dedicated Dementia Drugs Fund to help people living with Alzheimer's benefit from the amazing scientific progress made in recent years. We found a way forward for cancer patients; let's show the same determination for people affected by dementia. #ForACure #EndingAlzheimers https://t.co/SANlxAGyU5
To usłyszeli ode mnie liderzy Europy w Brukseli.
Then the 70% are wrong.
Privatisation of energy was a success. Prices fell. Consumers benefitted.
It all started to go wrong when the Tory/LD Coalition relentlessly increased state control of energy in pursuit of net zero. Continued under subsequent governments. The state now has more control over UK energy than it did in the days of the Central Electricity Generating Board!
And the remuneration last year of the boss of Gaz de France (now Engie) was €5.5m.
Other than that you’re spot on.
GB Energy, the useless state-owned company established by Labour, has so far spent £14.2m on running costs — and £5.8m on investments.
Running costs included the almost £400,000/year paid to its ineffective CEO and six executives on more than £100,000 each. What any of them has done to earn these sums is one of life’s mysteries.
Perhaps it’s a blessing it’s invested so little. The £5.8m it has earmarked is for a proposed floating wind farm off the north coast of Scotland — a sure-fire loss-maker if ever there was one.
Other recollections from the Tory years:
Fixing Labour's broken economy.
Slashing the deficit.
Creating millions of jobs leading to record employment.
Delivering Brexit.
Giving record funding to the NHS
World-beating Covid vaccination programme.
Taking school children from the bottom to the top of intern'l maths and English league tables.
Leading the World in supporting Ukraine.
Handing Labour the fastest growing economy in the G7, having drastically reduced inflation to just 2% following covid and the start of the war in Ukraine, which had sent inflation spiralling upwards.
@Fat_Jacques@GrunwaldSpier It’s also the social aspect. You see the same people and have a chat and create a network. A lifeline for older, lonely people.
Excl: Labour’s energy policy is “batshit crazy” and the department overseeing net zero is “basically the ministry for P45s”, one of Britain’s most powerful union leaders has said.
In an interview with The Times, Gary Smith accused the government of relying on “sticking-plaster politics” while companies struggled with high energy costs and warned that rising energy bills would create a raft of fresh strikes across the public and private sector.
On Jackdaw and Rosebank he said: “If they do not do this, it will damage hugely the government’s credibility, and it will massively damage investment because that infrastructure, as I understand it, is ready to go — billions of investment. And if it does not now happen, who in their right mind is going to put money into this country?”

@afneil@clarescastle I found it so depressing last night that the only person capable of evidence driven analysis and debate is the one that we do not see on the BBC.
