HODGES: Russia will not win this war. Russia can only kill innocent people with ballistic missiles.
That's not how you win the war. It didn't work in World War II, didn't work in Vietnam, never works.
Ukraine, in the meantime, is destroying Russia’s ability to sustain the war.
Don't forget, this war started in 2014. After 12 years, Russia still controls only 20% of Ukraine.
The fact that Russia has 130 million inhabitants while Ukraine has only 30 million is also irrelevant.
What matters we know from history is war always a test of will, and not merely about logistics.
We were more numerous than Northern Tajiks, more numerous than Taliban. We lost those wars.
We have nuclear weapons, and they don't. That is not the point. Ukraine is defending itself.
That's what matters. It's also in Germany’s interest for Ukraine to succeed. That's not a charity.
Without exaggeration, the leadership of the Netherlands has helped Ukraine protect thousands and thousands of lives. Our relations are stronger than ever. We stand shoulder to shoulder in the pursuit of a just and lasting peace.

NEW | Major Publication | Ukraine’s unfolding Kursk Campaign shows that the battlefield is not fully transparent despite pervasive surveillance by both sides and that concealing operational intent can still achieve operational surprise. 🧵(1/4)

On May 4th, the Netherlands commemorates its WWII victims and others who died during wars and peace operations. Tonight, we will unite in silence at 8PM to honor them and the sacrifices they made for peace and freedom.
Failing to support Ukraine will be the west's worse strategic mistake in the early 21st century. Its folly will dwarf the decision to invade Iraq and the campaign in Afghanistan. We have to supply Ukraine. #UkraineRussianWar

30,000 Ukrainian soldiers have now been trained on Operation Interflex. This would not have been possible without our international partners.
Ten partner nations have contributed military personnel to the training since June 2022.
What a night on the town!
Got to see the @BritishArmy's Next Generation Combat Team in action last night. Complex ambushes of armoured convoys, layered ISTAR assets, improved lethality and survivability.
Culminated in an attack in a department store!

Having kept fairly quiet throughout its preparation I've written a piece for @RUSI_org trying to outline the challenges over the next few weeks for the AFU's offensive. They are beating expectations, but this is going to be a hard fight. https://t.co/TG7eQcj4av
