The trauma that children of incarcerated parents are susceptible to when losing a parent because of imprisonment is more detrimental than the death of a parent.
Recently, the United States government said let those Black people go! The U.S. Senate said not yet! Read the history about a drug law that caused the government to exercise its powers under the system of Checks and Balances. See, IF I WERE WHITE: Crime, Punishment, and Injustice
“‘This[, the federal crack law,] has been one of the policies that has sent thousands and thousands of predominantly Black men to the federal prison system,’ said Janos Marton, vice-president of political strategy with the group https://t.co/dXauQUEoor.”—ABC News 12/18/22.
@SenateDems@SenBooker To know the history of the “crack law,” as I do because I languished in prison for 20 years pursuant to the crack versus cocaine 100-to-1 ratio, is to know that Congress’ no action to bring forth equality in cocaine sentencing is systemic racism! Call it what it is!
@KevinARing To know the history of the “crack law” is to know that Congress’ no action to bring forth equality in cocaine sentencing is systemic racism!
@KevinARing I have been speaking to organizations on the disparity in cocaine sentencing, particularly in Southern West Virginia—A.K.A Trump Country—and even the compassionate citizens there are appalled. Everyone sees what the crack law is! Repeal the crack law now!
This picture was taken soon after my days at Mt. View High School! My life would spiral out-of-control, and I would become a drug dealer. https://t.co/pkM3HMptRq
Children are the future! Madison, a middle school student, brings attention to racial injustice that’s highlighted in my book, IF I WERE WHITE: Crime, Punishment, and Injustice. Kudos to her!
The news outlets weren’t interested in the book—IF I WERE WHITE: Crime, Punishment and Injustice—until a white middle school student used my book for her presentation at the middle school book fair, and she won!
