Great analogy. You would be done. Especially in California, because you can’t cut labor, they will sue you for firing people (probably through a frivolous PAGA suit) and you can’t decrease quality or you lose customers, so business closes. And for the naysayers who say “you’ll just sell your business and make money” when you have government penalties against you (which they will pile on) they put liens on your biz so it’s basically government seizing your assets if you screw up (by their standards which you have no way to counter). You should vote for this if you are comfortable handing over 5%, in cash, of all your tangible and intangible property every year. You should vote no if you don’t want to do that.

If it passes, the remaining Billionaires will sue. This will take a decade to meander through the courts and will find its way to the Supreme Court where the odds it survives are low.

But in that intervening decade, far fewer business builders will want to bet on California and will focus on building in other states.

This will drive a large loss of revenue that will make California’s budget hole even worse. The only solution there is more borrowing and higher taxes on EVERYONE including those that voted NO. This will particularly impact the middle class who are Californias largest revenue source.

The only path out of an avoidable budget spiral is a hard landing and structural reset. Sadly, a hard landing will mean a near-miss with California bankruptcy and, more punitively, a reset/retrade of state pensions with California lenders to not come collect.

The Republican Senate just performed its own public execution in a hotel ballroom in Rapid City and then had the audacity to act surprised when the body twitched.

They did not simply deny Scott Presler entry to their little donor dinner at the South Dakota state convention.

They revealed the clinical truth of what they have become: a cartel of status-anxious narcissists so pathologically terrified of autonomous effectiveness on their own side that they will slam the door on the single most productive grassroots operative this movement has fielded in a generation rather than risk him demanding they actually do the job they were sent to Washington to perform.

This was not an administrative fuck-up.

This was a calculated act of social dominance…a textbook display of malignant group pathology in which the only acceptable response to loyalty that becomes demanding is erasure and humiliation.

The message they broadcast was not subtle.

It was neurological.

It was delivered straight into the attachment systems of every volunteer, every small-dollar donor, every door-knocker who still believed the Republican Party existed to fight rather than to manage.

Shut the fuck up.

Know your place.

We do not work for you.

We work for the donor calendar, the cocktail circuit, the administrative-state equilibrium that keeps our sinecures intact.

Your effort, your results, your inconvenient insistence on proof-of-citizenship and borders that actually function are now classified as threats to our comfort.

The base is no longer an asset to be mobilized. It is a liability to be contained.

This is betrayal trauma made visible and it carries a clinical cost these cowards have not begun to calculate.

Trust does not erode under these conditions.

It calcifies into something colder, more precise, more lethal.

The high-agency citizens who built the turnout machines are not becoming more moderate.

They are becoming more diagnostic. They are running new simulations in which the men in bespoke suits are no longer allies who occasionally disappoint.

They are obstacles that must be removed or bypassed if anything resembling the republic is to survive.

History has already written the next chapter for men who mistake their insulation for invulnerability.

The Roman optimates told the populares to sit down and accept their station.

The French aristocracy responded to the cahiers de doléances with procedural contempt and donor-class disdain.

The British Tories spent a generation triangulating while assuring their base that the institutions still functioned.

Every single time the result was the same: the base did not become more compliant.

It became more accurate in its assessment of who actually serves whom.

The Senate Republicans who participated in or permitted this public degradation of Scott Presler have just accelerated that process by years.

They have handed the base fresh data and fresh rage wired directly into the nervous system.

They will not sleep cleanly again.

Every future closed-door meeting, every donor dinner, every primary challenge will carry the ghost of that slammed door in Rapid City.

The calculation has changed.

The men who thought they could silence the most effective soldier on their own side without consequence have just taught the entire base a lesson in institutional betrayal that no amount of campaign rhetoric can unteach.

The full forensic dissection of this pathology…the neurological rewiring, the historical pattern, the terminal arrogance of a leadership class that fears its own base more than it fears the enemy…is now live.

Read it. Let it cut.

This is just sad.

California spends 8 to 10 times more on services for illegal immigrants than it does on veterans services from the General Fund.

And now the legislature is trying to mislead the people of California with another Trojan horse ballot title by calling this Measure “Veteran and Affordable Housing Bond.”

I voted no today because veterans should be prioritized in our budget. We should not have to pull a bond out during a record revenue year and a record budget.
When the state spends over $10 billion on illegal immigrant services, including lawyer fees and medical healthcare, but only about $500 million on our veterans, we have a problem.

Is it too hard to ask that we make sure every single veteran is off the street before providing services to individuals from other countries?

Is it too much to ask that our veterans who fought for this country are provided more services and resources than individuals from other countries?

Never let the state tell you we do not have enough money. What they really mean is that they just do not have enough money for you.

Local GOP chapters have NO incentive to win elections because they take in MASSIVE amounts of money, and end up hoarding it for races they deem as "winnable." They cut containment deals with Democrats in blue states, making it look like their stopping the spread of Communism from the major metros.

Stories abound of viable candidates here in NY being asked basically to be the next loser to whoever the dominant Democrat is. Bruce Blakeman (@NassauExec) is only running for Governor so he can hedge his power on Long Island, running a campaign with all the charisma and energy of a field mouse.

Local Republicans are more afraid of the Democrat Party Machine and the animals they've employed as their enforcers, than they are of their voters and their donors.

Forget about Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens or Nick Fuentes for a second; THIS is what the Woke Right ACTUALLY looks like in praxis.

The three mentioned above are paid to turn public opinion AGAINST Trump, and maintain a performative status quo.

They smile for the cameras, take the votes, cash the checks, and then turn around and treat the base like peasants at the gate…unwelcome, inconvenient, and easily dismissed by whatever minor functionary they’ve empowered to do their dirty work.

A Thune crony…or at least a creature of that entire insulated ecosystem…looked one of this movement’s most relentless, effective organizers in the eye and snarled the quiet part out loud for the world to hear:

This is not a staffer having a bad day.

This is not an isolated lapse in “optics.”

This is the unfiltered id of a political class that has spent years insulating itself from the very voters who dragged it out of irrelevance and handed it power.

The same class that turns the Senate into a procedural graveyard for anything the base actually demands.

The same class that lets consultants and lobbyists and lifetime functionaries treat the people who win their elections like problems to be managed rather than partners to be respected.

The contempt is not accidental.

It is structural.

It is the psychological defense mechanism of elites who sense…correctly…that the base is no longer content to be placated with rhetoric while the actual agenda of sovereignty, borders, and accountability dies in committee.

What you are about to read is not another polite autopsy of RINO behavior.

It is a forensic examination of that contempt in its natural habitat…its origins in elite capture, its transmission downward through staff and donors and event gatekeepers, its inevitable collision with a base that has finally stopped asking permission to be angry.

It names the pathology without euphemism. It traces the fracture in the social contract between Republican officeholders and the people who actually deliver their victories.

And it leaves the reader with the only question that still matters: when the door is slammed in your face by the very people you put in power, what the fuck are you prepared to do about it?

If you are still telling yourself that “our guys” are different, that the Senate is a fortress for the base rather than against it, that basic respect is too much to expect from the machine you keep feeding with your labor and your loyalty…this piece will finish the job of disabusing you.

The mask is off.

The contempt is on record.

Fox News Chief Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram reports that House conservatives are now threatening to oppose 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 until it passes the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. That includes a bipartisan housing package the Senate already passed. They are also demanding President Trump veto the housing bill outright to force the Senate’s hand.

The SAVE Act is straightforward: documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote, and photo ID at the ballot box. Democrats have filibustered it in the Senate every time it has come to the floor. Senate Republicans have been unable — or unwilling — to force the issue. The Senate can move a bipartisan housing bill in days but cannot pass a 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟-𝐨𝐟-𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 that the majority of Americans support. House conservatives are done pretending not to notice.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) is leading the pressure campaign, with 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟐𝟒 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐬 signing letters tying any Senate legislation to SAVE Act passage. Luna put it plainly: “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘝𝘌𝘛𝘖 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦’𝘴 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘚𝘈𝘝𝘌 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢.” The message to the upper chamber is not subtle.

President Trump made his position clear at a House Republican retreat in Doral: he will not sign other legislation until the Senate delivers the SAVE Act. He has already used the FISA Section 702 renewal as leverage, torching GOP plans to reauthorize the anti-terrorism program to force a vote. Senate Republicans are frustrated. The base is more frustrated. Trump is keeping score.

The bipartisan housing bill passed the Senate. The SAVE Act has not. The Senate has found votes for tax bills, immigration packages, and now housing. It cannot find votes for the single measure that prevents noncitizens from casting ballots in American elections. House conservatives are making that the price of everything else on the Senate’s to-do list.
