I think, personal opinion, that people are over indexing NY after this one.
NY was tough and it was an unbelievable win for them.
But I don’t think they had it easy or did a lot of clear advantage repeatable stuff.
They hit more rough shots and imo gave up more open looks than SA did too.
Spurs got flustered sped up and abandoned team ball for iso and settled a bit much especially on a bad shooting night.
We will see but I think SA takes game 2.
@retort_the I think Wemby doesnt close out as hard. He relies on stopping drives and contesting 3’s from KAT using length.
He got caught up trying to send a physical message and lost discipline on defense IMO vs KAT
Victor Wembanyama reiterates that he doesn’t think Spurs need to change their technical approach to win in Finals. He says Spurs ‘need to approach game with better mental state .. need to play our game .. need to be normal .. don’t have to do anything (out of the ordinary).”
@retort_the They do. Spurs affect NY as well. Thats what I said overall; will come down to margins and execution not scheme as they are equally talented imo
Spurs can win. It’s just that it’s evenly matched and not a ton of obvious clear advantages to go to.
Fox can play better. Wemby can play better. They can settle a little less and also hit open looks they generated more.
It’s thin margins for both teams so it’s more about execution and disciple in key areas vs scheme imo
@thebigsneezee@DannyNYK_ $500? I got spurs you got Knicks?
You don’t have many followers so not sure I trust you’ll pay up but I’m willing to make you shut down your account out of shame if you don’t pay.
Last thing I’m discussing on the topic for anyone who needs it explained clearly:
Regarding the hard fouls:
The argument is that because Hart yanked Castles hair and neck (no foul was called) and Chet stomped Wembys foot (no foul was called) and because Hart two hand yanked Wembys arm and shoulder numerous times (no fouls were called) when he was going for rebounds and blocks all BEFORE any of the stuff you’re referencing Spurs did (Plumlee shot to McCain, Carter running into SGA) - that spurs had enough.
That if Okc was going to keep doing this AND the refs weren’t even going to protect them via calling the fouls on the obvious dirty stuff (all on video, all captured without a doubt) that in sports it’s common to fight back and send a message that if you continue to do these things (which is fine imo - it’s playoff basketball and as long as you aren’t injuring people a little dirty is expected) that we are more than capable of looking for our opportunities to do it back and we don’t want to hear any crying when it happens.
So before you yank our hair, elbow our throat area, yank our arms and shoulders repeatedly and stomp our feet? Think twice because you’re not going to like what happens back to you and you will not punk us and get away with it.
