@RomeoStevens76 @TheMindScourge I would wager that a significant drop in that number is accounted for by women (both sexes, really) going to college and getting married at 25 rather than entering the workforce and getting married at 18, as was extremely prevalent in the 1950s and earlier.

1. 18-19 year-olds are full-on adults
2. Many, many people got married and started having kids at 18 or 19 in those days

I graduated HS in the 1990s and 2 of my friends were married at 18, first kid at 19.
