@bumbadum14 While I agree w/your core point that California neglects water infrastructure, I don't think desalination is key to California's future.
Assuming continued population growth (dubious!), reservoir expansion in the Sierra and Klamath ranges could be far more productive.
@cboyack Like you, I disdain the practice of governmental seizure under eminent domain for transfer to another private party.
Unlike you, I am somewhat sympathetic to the SCOTUS position that states should have this power.
We get the government we deserve. Elect carefully.
@Leocoastie@DerrickEvans4WV No. The common amortization schedule is the fairest way to structure loan payments, even between friends.
In year 1, the lender has loaned $100K, so it is fair he receives interest on that amount. Each year, the outstanding loan is smaller, so the interest paid is smaller.
@avidseries I noticed that Mr. St Onge was discussing firearm homicide rate and you mentioned just homicide rate. Does that distinction make any difference in the results?
@Peyj6@AlphaLima783447@DanFessler Starlink V2-mini sats have 21m² radiators. Over 7,000 in orbit.
Starlink V3 sats have 56m² radiators (effective 102-108m² because dual-sided). About 42 in orbit.
At 110m2, AI1 radiators would be about double the size of Starlink V3.
@vintagemapstore Another fun fact: The east border of Montana is not a straight line. It jags about a half-mile eastward at the corner of ND/SD/MT. Zoom way in on Google maps to see it.
@CrystalTaggart@adcock_brett When Aime was a little tiny baby, sitting on his daddy's knee, he picked up a package, saying 'Flipping these for scanners gonna be the death of me.'"
@TyrionDynamite@avidseries@skorpien No, it's about West Virginia. The authors (Danoff, Nivert and Denver) have been vocal about their inspiration.
They were explicitly writing a song about West Virginia. The original name of the song was Rhododendron - the state flower of West Virginia.

@PhilWMagness@kenyon_burnham_@jmhorp :( I'll keep listening, but this isn't your finest moment.
You're suggesting their point is invalid because they selected an illustration you find contrary to their argument.
If you think their point about housing affordability is invalid, I'd like to hear more about that.
@PhilWMagness@kenyon_burnham_@jmhorp Respectfully, this isn't as thoughtful as usual for you.
Deal with the substance instead of nitpicking the illustration the BPM used to illustrate their point.
Do you disagree that there's a housing affordability issue in the US? I'd like to hear your thoughts on that.
@chess_feed Very similar to the Morphy constructed mate-in-2

@iYungblogger@Queen_primis Pastrami, which is beef brisket cured with salts, spiced with pepper, garlic and coriander, then smoked and then boiled just before serving.
This is from Katz Deli in NYC, which has been serving Pastrami for 135 years. Quite an experience.
