Tracking the inevitable collapse of the global economy as we transition from human labor to AI and advanced robotics -an imminent social and financial crisis.
Within one 24 hour period, Trump:
- got out of a $100 million IRS fine
- secured "immunity" from all future tax investigations for his family and friends
- created a $1.8 billion slush fund for lawbreaking supporters
- was reported for likely insider trading worth nearly $1 billion
All of the obvious things to say about this are true. It's bad. Nobody even tries to defend it. The closest thing to a defense you get is something about how "but Democrats suck" and "woke was also bad," which is not a defense, but rather a kind of moral blank check made out to the administration to give them the right to do anything.
But what I'm most curious about is whether this sort of lurid corruption creates a countermovement that successfully returns government to rule of law or whether it's establishing a norm of executive imperialism that every future administration will use to achieve its ends, which can always be justified by the moral blank check of "the other side is worse, so let us do whatever we want."
Deficit spending is an unfunded tax liability.
When politicians don't have the courage to actually tax people, they find the most pernicious and regressive way to collect anyway.
Inflation.
They weaken the purchasing power of the dollar and monetize the debt.
The people who get hurt are the ones without assets.
If you own assets, the nominal price goes up and you feel fine.
But if you're a worker just trying to get by, you're losing purchasing power every single day.
Someone is taking your time and your energy away from you.
And it's exactly why people are so angry.
We are ALL FAILING this country.
Donald Trump needs to be removed from office.
He should have been removed before the war started. He is mentally unwell.
Forget the Jesus pictures. Forget the Pope. We can go through hundreds of examples.
The sane washing — pretending this is normal — that's just the surface problem.
The real problem is that we have willing accomplices.
What we have in America right now is a complete failure of political elites to execute on the constitutional system that was built specifically for this moment.
We are all accomplices to this man's reckless behavior.
-Every senator who stays quiet.
-Every executive who writes the check.
-Every commentator who normalizes it.
He needs to be removed from office and he won't be.
".. While Moscow and Beijing fear US military and intelligence superiority, they have seen it couldn’t force Iran’s capitulation, the people said."
