@RedSpir65047859@kidsmnesiac@PaulTweetsRIP I think they could pretty easily try to sell high on MPJ, though I do not have any expectation of that happening.
If they were to, the move would be to either use him to get a better player or get a distressed max guy + more (likely someone viewed as better than him last year)
@kidsmnesiac@RedSpir65047859@PaulTweetsRIP We have so little talent right now that it’s hard to take the “championship team” stuff as a legitimate reason to not sign him, nevermind whether I even agree with it or not
@kidsmnesiac@RedSpir65047859@PaulTweetsRIP Should every signing be made through a lens of whether that guy could be on that contract and win a championship?
Reaves on a 30% max would be perfectly suited to eventually be a number 2 or eventually flipped for a better primary through a trade.
@brooklynsbeat Says a lot that marks has nailed the 3 biggest trades we’ve made in the last 3.5 years asset-wise (KD, mikal, CamJ) and we still have so little to show for it.
@kidsmnesiac@PaulTweetsRIP A 4 year 30% max is far less debilitating than the homegrown 5 year 35% supermax deals. We don’t have the talent to say no to Reaves if the option is there. There’s no one way to build
@greenGarden74@WaltJamesNBA@NetsDaily Not nearly enough of it. 4 years of a max contract salary dump for a low 1st and a protected 1st? That shouldn’t have been enough to get rid of Simmons alone, much less also get harden
@kidsmnesiac@PaulTweetsRIP I don’t know why you think we’d be stuck as a “6th seed every season” if Reaves is our only significant long term salary commitment.
Regardless, we’d probably still be way worse than that next year.
@kidsmnesiac@PaulTweetsRIP We currently have no centerpiece and nobody to build anything around. I generally agree that the goal should be aimed towards winning a title, but “cap space” doesn’t win games
We can take on 3/47 of Mann just to get the 22nd pick, but 4/180 on reaves is where we draw the line?
@kidsmnesiac@PaulTweetsRIP He turned 28 a week ago. Unless you think we’ll be in the finals by 2030, he’ll be 31 when the last game on that deal is played
@kidsmnesiac@PaulTweetsRIP How about we get to 35 first? We can worry about improving more once we get there.
And the only veteran commitment the nets have beyond 2027 is Clax, whose deal is done in 2028.
Reaves walks in as our best, most valuable piece
@jakerobrob@RaymondSultan@thethirdrobbie Does marks get a lifetime contract for that team or something?
It’s a different league now and marks hasn’t had a single margins find like dinwiddie or Harris since then. We have the most barren roster/lack of talent in the league (right next to the kings)
