2024 World Water Day
Press conference of the Presidential community engagement across the six regions
In partnership with @APWEN_NG and @OPSWASH1
Today, as we celebrate World Water Day, we are reminded of the criticality of water and sanitation in the pursuit of sustainable development. It is a day that serves as a stark reminder of the challenges we face in ensuring that everyone, everywhere, has access to safe, clean, and affordable water.
We gather here today to celebrate a partnership that seeks to address this very issue. The collaboration between the SSAP CE, OPSWASH, and the Association of Professional Women Engineers is a testament to the power of collective action. It highlights our commitment to forging partnerships that bring together public and private sectors, as well as the involvement of professional bodies, to tackle complex societal challenges such as water and sanitation.
Water is a basic necessity of life. It is crucial for good health, food security, and economic development. Yet, millions of people around the world, including here in our own communities, still lack access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation facilities. This situation is further exacerbated by the effects of climate change, population growth, rapid urbanization, and other socioeconomic factors.
In light of these realities, it becomes evident that we cannot rely on traditional approaches alone. We need innovative solutions and concerted efforts to bridge the gap and ensure that no one is left behind. This partnership, through its collaborative nature, aims to leverage the expertise, resources, and networks of each partner to maximize our impact.
The SSAP CE, OPSWASH, and the Association of Professional Women Engineers will work tirelessly to promote sustainable water management, create awareness on water-related issues, and advocate for policies and programs that prioritize water and sanitation. Our combined efforts will not only improve access to water and sanitation facilities but also empower communities, particularly women and girls, to actively participate in decision-making processes regarding water management.
Today's event signifies the beginning of a journey - a journey towards a future marked by water security, hygiene, and dignity for all. It is a call to action, urging us all to unite our efforts and work together to tackle the water crisis head-on. By joining forces, we can strengthen our impact, share knowledge, and pool resources to bring about tangible change.
Let today's launch serve as a catalyst for greater collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity in our pursuit of sustainable water and sanitation solutions. Together, we can ensure that clean water flows freely, that sanitation becomes a fundamental right, and that no one is left behind.
let us all commit to a future where access to water and sanitation is a reality for every individual, everywhere.

The delivery of sanitation services through the public sector may not serve all. Thus, engagement of the private sector may lead to improvements in the affordable, safely managed sanitation for those in under-served communities.

#WorldToiletDay,
Be like the hummingbird and do whatever you can to tackle the sanitation crisis. Whether it is talking about the issues, flushing less, fixing leaks, contacting politicians, or supporting organizations, every action counts.
