Let's be honest here, guys. DNP degrees don't even have the rigor of a PhD so have they REALLY earned the right to use the title 'doctor'? DNPs average 2 years and PhDs average 6 years. I'd be insulted to be equivocated to that if I were a PhD.
I've watched AT LEAST 500 hours of medical shows including House, MD, Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy, ER, etc.. I believe that now qualifies me to be an independent practice NP in surgery, IM, and EM. Please refer to me as Dr. from now on. π€
Put a 4th year medical student against a newly graduated NP/PA and I'll bet good money the M4 will blow them all out of the water clinically. We're supposed to just trust the midlevels to be competent on their own? I feel so sorry for the patients they'll see w/o supervision...
NP/PAs: We don't want to be physicians and never did π€
Also NP/PAs: We want to practice medicine, be called doctor in the hospital/clinic, use the term "match" for NP/PA "residency"
Don't want to be a physician, my ass. π Y'all just want as many shortcuts as possible.
the hardest part of being a medical student is deciding how long youβre going to listen to the patientβs heart before looking back up to face the team.
I've taken YEARS of online coding classes (though more on file management) and made MULTIPLE programs (though I did follow explicit how-tos) but now I deserve to be a senior developer. Holla at me, Google. I can do the same as your senior people with less training and experience.
How about midlevels compare themselves to MD/DOs and not to the world population when talking about medical knowledge and clinical care? Even middle schoolers can be considered experts and highly-educated depending on who you compare them to like, say, kindergartners ππ
It always happens that healthcare administrators, most of whom are NOT physicians, choose to save money over ensuring the health of their patients. And if they do happen to be physicians, they don't deserve to be anymore because they've forsaken their oath of nonmaleficence
"Yeah, she was a horrible physician! She didn't miss one thing in my entire time seeing her! I want to see someone with LESS training and experience! Replace my primary care physician with an assistant or nurse right now!" said no one ever in the history of ever
@BP76104@TempletonPeckP1@UnprofeshMD@MidlevelCare @physicianfiesta When I tried to look up physicians becoming assistants, I only see blogs and articles about the reverse because the assistants said they felt they wanted to understand why they were doing things rather than just following an algorithm. Am I missing something here?
Hear hear. Physicians realize how sacred human life is, and willingly dedicate years and years and hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to properly prepare themselves for the responsibility. Midlevels? Proud that their training was fast and easy. Proper training is neither.
Thereβs an admiration for the personal sacrifice, intense training & work ethic it takes to be a doctor. Midlevelsβ lack of respect 4 this is insulting/slanderous/petty. Thereβs a reason medicine is viewed as it is. Itβs not supposed to be easy. If it were, theyβd be doctors too
@TempletonPeckP1 @monkeymed1 @roentgenres @MidlevelCare@dryared@RBlockMD @jkoraedu And I don't know why you think 'nerd' is an insult. I'm proud to be a nerd. If you're in healthcare and you're NOT a nerd, clearly you don't belong in healthcare and I feel sorry for your patients. This is a field where you should constantly be wanting to study up and learn more.
@TempletonPeckP1 @monkeymed1 @roentgenres @MidlevelCare@dryared@RBlockMD @jkoraedu LOOOOLLL of course. Talk the talk but can't walk the walk. As expected. I, too, would score perfectly on the USMLE and constantly outperform and out-diagnose every single medical student in the US on everything but I'm too busy to prove it, either, sorry.
@TempletonPeckP1 @monkeymed1 @roentgenres @MidlevelCare@dryared@RBlockMD @jkoraedu Hey, you claim that PAs would score higher than med students on Step 2 so why don't you prove it? Do a UWorld Step 2 CK self-assessment on sound-activated recorded stream so we know you're not cheating. Unless... you're all talk with nothing to show for it.
@antisocial_med@catsandteas It's because everyone and their mother is calling their healthcare-related school 'medical school' now. I've talked to someone who claimed that they were in med school, too, until they named some for-profit school I've never heard of. What was it actually? X-ray tech student π
@MidlevelCare@TempletonPeckP1@AnonymousMD15 @physicianfiesta @UnprofeshMD@LeahHoustonMD I don't know if NBME is restricted to medical students only but anybody can do UWorld. I'd like to see how midlevels do on randomized, timed USMLE Step 1 and 2 UWorld blocks. Put their money where their mouth is.
If midlevels are so desperate to practice independently, let them take non-watered down, non-altered MD/DO licensing exams PLUS specialty board exams first then let's talk. For reference, students at my school study 2500+ hours for just the first part of the MD licensing exam!
@new_dinosaur_md@Jerome_Soldo@marriedtomedsc1@jasonryanmd Yes. NPs can now take their ONE very simple certification exam that allows them to practice medicine independently in 32 states, from their own home. 2yr online βDoctoralβ degree. No residency! 500hr of find-your-own βclinicalsβ (shadowing). No residency!

@TempletonPeckP1@standforpts@MidlevelCare@AnonymousMD15 @physicianfiesta @LeahHoustonMD Actually, my peers and I constantly think we know nothing as we learn more each day for 9+ years but yeah, I do know what PAs think. They think they know enough to practice medicine with only 1 year of preclinicals and 1 year of clinicals. That's true hubris, don't you think?
