The All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna organized an interactive academic session titled “#Artificial #Intelligence in Healthcare - From Research to Bedside” to highlight the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (#AI) in improving healthcare delivery, research, and patient outcomes.

The programme began with a panel discussion on “AI in #Healthcare: Perspectives from Medicine, Technology and Leadership.” The session was chaired by Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Patna, who emphasized that AI can strengthen healthcare systems by improving diagnostic accuracy, optimizing hospital workflows, and enabling data-driven decision-making.

The panel included Dr. Ritesh R. Dhote, Scientist E, #CDAC Patna, Mr. Jayesh Dubey, Scientist C, CDAC, Dr. Abhyuday Kumar, Faculty Incharge (IT & HIS), AIIMS Patna, and Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Associate Professor, AIIMS Patna. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Pallam Gopi Chand, Deputy Faculty Incharge (IT & HIS), AIIMS Patna.

Technical sessions by CDAC scientists covered “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Healthcare” and “Applications of AI in Biomedical and Clinical Research.” Speakers also highlighted the importance of ethics, patient data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion with faculty members and residents, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration between clinicians, technologists, and data scientists to advance AI-driven healthcare.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna has signed a landmark MoU with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (@CDAC_Patna) Patna at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, marking a major step toward #AI-driven healthcare in eastern India.

The collaboration aims to strengthen clinical care, research, hospital administration, and cybersecurity through advanced AI tools. Key initiatives include AI-powered clinical decision support systems, deep learning-based imaging analytics for early disease detection, predictive health analytics, smart hospital automation, and robust cybersecurity frameworks.

AIIMS Patna will also establish an Artificial Intelligence Special Purpose Hub (AI-SPH) with @cdac_mohali & @cdac_noida as a Centre of Excellence. The hub will focus on capacity building, region-specific AI research, interdisciplinary innovation, and secure digital health systems. It will serve as a nodal AI hub for institutions across Bihar and Jharkhand.

On this special day (23rd Jan), Maternal Health Awareness Day and World Regional Anaesthesia Week, we focus on a very important mission: reducing Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and ensuring every woman has access to safe delivery protocols. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna organised its first comprehensive awareness programme on Cyber Hygiene, #CyberSecurity, and Digital Personal Data Protection at the AIIMS Patna Auditorium on Friday. The initiative aimed to sensitise healthcare professionals, students, officers, and staff about secure digital practices, data governance, and compliance under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Executive Director Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal, who underscored the growing significance of cyber awareness in the healthcare sector in view of rapid digitalisation of medical records and healthcare services.
The event was attended by Medical Superintendent Anup Kumar, Dean (Academics) Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Bhadani, & Deputy Director (Admin) Nilotpal Bal, along with faculty members, students, officers & staff of the Institute.

Addressing the gathering, Medical Superintendent Anup Kumar, Dean (Academics) Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Bhadani and Deputy Director (Admin) Nilotpal Bal emphasised that cyber security is crucial for safeguarding patient data and ensuring uninterrupted digital healthcare services. They reiterated that #cyber security is a shared responsibility and stressed the need for strict adherence to cyber hygiene practices to prevent cyber threats and protect patient confidentiality.

The technical sessions were formally introduced by Dr. Pallam Gopi Chand, Deputy Faculty In-charge IT, setting the context for the expert deliberations. The sessions featured Mr. Alvin Antony, Govern AI, New Delhi, who delivered a presentation on “DPDP Act and Rules: Compliance for Healthcare Professionals”, and Mr. Saket Jha, Scientist ‘D’, CDAC Patna, who spoke on “Securing the Future: Building Cyber Resilience in the Digital Age”, highlighting emerging cyber risks and resilience-building strategies.

The programme reinforced that cyber security extends beyond IT systems and is integral to clinical, academic, and administrative functions, emphasising responsible data handling and continuous cyber awareness in today’s digital healthcare ecosystem.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Abhyuday Kumar, IT Faculty In-charge. AIIMS Patna successfully performed its first liver retrieval and liver transplant — a landmark achievement in expanding transplant care in Eastern India.

Any public hospital acquiring capacity to do Liver Transplant is a big boost to the program.

The state-of-the-art IT #datacenter at AIIMS Patna has been officially inaugurated and commissioned. This advanced facility spans various sections of the institute, including the IT cell in the Administration Building, the server room in the IPD Building, and the PACS room in the OPD Building. This advancement significantly improves data management by facilitating efficient storage, management, and retrieval of large volumes of data, thereby enhancing overall operational efficiency. The esteemed Executive Director and CEO, Prof. (Dr.) Gopal Krushna Pal led the inauguration.
In addition to the data center, the IT complaint management system was also inaugurated and put into operation. This system is designed to address and resolve IT-related issues swiftly and conveniently, ensuring that errors or problems can be fixed efficiently.
