'Lewis Hamilton has really pushed Ferrari to not be afraid, to go for the Macarena wing, to change the brakes, to be adventurous with the design, to go be aggressive with the soft tyre.'
Tom Clarkson: "He started on the soft tyre and that he was aggressive and wanted to win this race from the start. I feel there is a significance behind him starting on the soft tyre because I think there's been a period here at Ferrari where they might have been a bit afraid to do something different like that at the start. All the cars around him were on the medium tyre. But I feel Lewis has really pushed them to not be afraid, to go for the Macarena wing, to change the brakes, to be adventurous with the design, to go be aggressive with the soft tyre. Do you guys agree that that's significant?"
@AlbertFabrega: "It is. It is. I think that Ferrari still have this difference between them and the other teams where the consequences of having a mistake like this could affect the whole Scuderia. I think that in this sense, Fred has done a good job taking weight of the things that are not relevant for the team and whatever is said outside. I think that he's trying to introduce to the team that they have to be a little bit away of what is going on, away of the team or outside the team and what the people said about it and be confident with their work."
"I think that having a man like Lewis Hamilton, that has been one of the greatest of the sport within the team, it gives that confidence to them to do this kind of strategies, saying, OK, well, let's go for it. And if it doesn't work, nothing happens. We will be fighting for the podium anyway. But giving them the opportunity to win, I think, is enough to take the risk and they're doing it."
@jucerasoli: "I see Fred as an enabler of what Lewis can achieve here."
"His first day at Ferrari, he went to his office and there were all the newspapers from the day before, from the morning probably. And he said, from tomorrow onwards, I don't want this. I don't want to know what others are talking about this team. What matters is what's inside this team. And I think it leads to decisions like this. It leads to, let's just do our best here and not be afraid of what the papers will say or what we are going to say in the podcast or something like that. It all comes together."
"And having Lewis, a guy who has won so much, telling the guys to just go for it and having a boss saying, OK, let's go for it. If we fail, we fail trying. And of course, they are also in a much better position than Mercedes to try something like that because they are far off from the championship."

🏴 1988 McLaren Test
🇧🇷 Ayrton Senna - McLaren MP4/4
In September 1988, Ayrton Senna traveled to the Pembrey Circuit in Carmarthenshire, Wales, to conduct a secret test for the McLaren team.
Driving a modified version of the legendary McLaren MP4/4, Senna unofficially shattered the track record with a lap time of 44.43 seconds
The McLaren team, accompanied by about 60 Honda and McLaren crew members, secretly camped out under awning tents on the redundant runways of the old airfield circuit.
Senna tested a development chassis to prepare for the 1989 season, as the highly successful turbo-engine era was coming to a close and normally-aspirated engines were being introduced.
Blistering the 1.5-mile track at speeds reaching approximately 120 mph, Senna broke the circuit record previously held by his Brazilian compatriot and McLaren test driver, Maurício Gugelmin.
Not sure what Maurício Gugelmin would make of his last name being slaughtered. 😇🤣

The 2nd-placed G. Berger, who was having an excellent weekend & was only 3s behind Senna, began to experience mechanical problems (probably exhaust), wandering around the track like a wounded animal letting out a sad, lamenting cry from its V12 eng.

🇬🇧 Johnny Dumfries - Lotus 98T Renault V6 Turbo
Qualifying 14th overall
Race 6th overall
This race was significant for a few reasons regarding Johnny’s career and the broadcast of the event
It was his 15th and final race for Dumfries in the John Player Special Team Lotus. To mark his departure from the team, his mechanics famously wore tartan kilts in the paddock which you can see at the start of the clip.
Dumfries drove a solid race, finishing in 6th place, earning one World Championship point even after a spin at the Dequetteville hairpin.
The event is well-remembered by racing fans because Dumfries' Lotus 98T was one of the first Formula One cars equipped with a modern-style onboard television camera.
This provided some of the earliest and most iconic "in-car" footage in the sport's history, covering the frantic opening lap and most of the race.
The race itself is historically best known as the season finale where Alain Prost secured the Drivers' Championship in a dramatic three-way battle against Nigel Mansell and Nelson Piquet, famously decided after Mansell suffered a high-speed tire blowout.
