Ganesha football coach Don Cayer texted me, explaining that he suffered a heart attack in the final minutes against La Puente on Friday. He said he passed out on the sidelines, and credits athletic trainer Ariel Castro for saving his life. She used an AED, a device used during a cardiac arrest.

"I was dead for four minutes,” Cayer said through text messages. “Ariel saved me along with the AED.”

Cayer said he had three blocked arteries and had surgery over the weekend. He is still in the hospital charting out a rehab plan.

Thank God for athletic trainers and that Cayer is still with us!
