As part of the Special Issue in the International Journal of Public Health "Migration health around the globe ' A construction site with many challenges", we have recently published this interesting paper: https://t.co/qM8CHLhEae
This week alone:
DOJ opens an investigation into the woman Trump raped.
The White House is caught steering a $620 million contract to Don Jr.’s firm.
The Pentagon hands out a $10 billion contract after Trump buys stock in the company.
Foreign governments are caught funneling hundreds of millions into a random JPMorgan account tied to Trump’s “Board of Peace” with no oversight.
It’s just Thursday.
The corruption isn’t hidden anymore. It’s happening out in the open.
An appropriate birthday present on my uncle's birthday today. A federal judge ruled that President Trump and the Kennedy Center Board acted unlawfully in renaming the Kennedy Center. The judge held that only Congress can change the Center's name and blocked the planned two-year closure. I know they'll probably appeal and the story isn't over, but for today let’s celebrate a great birthday gift.
With a Supreme Court where some justices accept lavish gifts from billionaires with interests before the Court; a Congress awash in corporate PAC money and stock trades; and a President grifting off public office in plain sight, Americans have every reason to be outraged.
This cannot be about partisan politics. Democrats and Republicans alike must stand up and root out corruption wherever it exists.
Our government should serve the people, not the powerful. Democracy cannot thrive when public office becomes so corrupted by money.
I will fight to reform the system - I do not trade stocks; I do not take corporate PAC or issue area PAC money. We must pass laws to end the rampant corruption in our government.
Trump never has money for healthcare or VA staff or anything to actually make Americans’ lives better — but somehow found $1.8 billion to reward his allies with your tax dollars. That's corruption, plain and simple.
Forcing immigrants pursuing green cards legally to leave behind their homes, their jobs, and in some cases their families betrays the very promise that built this country.
Those who pray are aware of their own limitations; they do not kill or threaten with death. Instead, death enslaves those who have turned their backs on the living God, turning themselves and their own power into a mute, blind and deaf idol (Ps 115:4–8), to which they sacrifice every value, demanding that the whole world bend its knee. Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! True strength is shown in serving life. #Peace
I blame his voters for this. I blame every Republican elected official. I blame his media sycophants. I blame every media outlet, university president, private company CEO, and world leader who bent the knee to him. They’re all to blame for this. They ALL taught him to believe he can do whatever he wants. They ALL taught him to believe he should be worshipped.
I am repulsed by this photo. Does Trump now think he is Jesus? First he attacks and insults Pope Leo, now he depicts himself as Christ and tries to mock God. This is outrageous, offensive, and profane. Clearly he is not well. As an American, a Catholic, a human—I am disgusted.
As a Catholic, I find it abhorrent that the President of the United States would publicly attack the Successor of St. Peter. Donald Trump is flailing. His war in Iran has led to the death and injury of American servicemembers and the death of Iranian children. He will attack anyone or anything to try to protect himself, even the Church that millions of Americans find faith and comfort in every day. The American people deserve a president who understands the consequences of his words and takes responsibility for his actions.
What the Artemis II astronauts did over the last 10 days was a testament to their bravery. And the fact that they traveled farther from Earth than anyone ever has, re-entered our atmosphere at more than 24,000 mph, and splashed down safely was a testament to human ingenuity. Thanks to everyone at @NASA for making this mission possible, and for taking us along for the ride.
The victory of the opposition in Hungary yesterday, like the Polish election in 2023, is a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world. Most of all, it’s a testament to the resilience and determination of the Hungarian people – and a reminder to all of us to keep striving for fairness, equality and the rule of law.
I've taught European history for 30 years. Americans have always asked me how the Holocaust was possible, how Germans could have enabled a madman reveling in mass murder to carry out his plans. Now we can see in real time how this is enabled; now we have front-row seats.
The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes and wipe out a "whole civilization" — all because he started a disastrous war of his own making and had no plan and no strategy for how to end it.
This is abhorrent, and the American people do not support this.
Trump's recklessness is needlessly putting our brave service members in harm's way, destroying America's global standing, and making life even more unaffordable for the American people.
We must all stand against this and oppose funding this illegal war of choice.
Wisconsin Supreme Court justices have a profound responsibility: protecting the rights of the people and delivering on the promise of equal justice under the law.
Judge Chris Taylor is the only candidate running for Wisconsin’s Supreme Court with a proven record of delivering on that promise. I hope Wisconsin voters join me in supporting her candidacy for Wisconsin’s highest court.
Election Day is April 7th — make your plan to vote now. https://t.co/SJIqagi5oh
BREAKING: MAGA in full meltdown mode over this Super Bowl ad 😡
It would be a shame if you shared it and it went Viral 💙💙💙
Drop a 💙 for the bravery of Epstein survivors!
Maybe it’s not Bad Bunny
Maybe it’s not Hunter Hess
Maybe it’s not all the other Olympic athletes
Maybe it’s not the crowd booing Vance
Maybe it’s not the 60%+ who disapprove of Trump, his handling of the economy, immigration, etc.
Maybe it’s that the country is sick and tired of this heartless, cruel, corrupt, incompetent, self-serving, dishonest, hypocritical, undemocratic, unAmerican, shameful regime.
Expect us at midterms.
