See CW training hub website for Sept programme and join the other 658 primary care staff in our WhatsApp group for other local education opportunities over the summer @cwtraininghub
Last session of the term 1. if FIT <10mcg cancer risk 0.3% therefore below USC pathway threshold. 2. However remember if FIT neg but IDA / bleeding / worrying symptoms may still need referral 3. Primary Care IT safety netting might help and funded for all C&W practices.
And the WINNER for #OurHealthHeroes Dedication to Lifelong Learning Culture isโฆ @cwtraininghub. A leading team in healthcare training and professional growth! ๐
@skillsforhealth event, @cwtraininghub nominated for lifelong learning award. So important we continue learning throughout our careers and hope we facilitate that a little bit #OurHealthHeroes
@ObidinanwaD Sorry to hear this happened, I was always taught (20 years ago) clinician should be closer to door but I don't honestly know anywhere that happens. Think just easier to have patient open door and sit right down.
2. Think about what could be stealing your time eg. interruptions, you like chatting! 3. Avoid long elaborate monologues. Thanks as always to @cwtraininghub for hosting and @NHS_CWICB for their awareness that ongoing learning is so important.
Start of Summer term with something a bit different, time management for experienced clinicians by Mohan Kumar @ConsultationHQ Attendance 75 so clearly of interest, my learning points 1. Identify what the problem is that needs to be solved (often NOT the clinical problem!)
Then we went on to learn about Prevent, modern slavery and ICON a campaign to support parents and help stop baby injury. Thanks to the safeguarding team and tutors, still 460 on at 4.30pm and lots of questions, so shows the engagement was excellent.
Amazing afternoon of education. @cwtraininghub@NHS_CWICB@happyhealthycw I think lunch may be a record with 490 attendees to learn all about Change Grow live services and how to keep our patients with addiction issues safe.
Good to see coverage of Winter crisis - GPs are not to blame
5m more appts/month with 20% less funding than 2016
2.2m total months A&E attendances
1/7 of population waiting for hospital treatments or investigations
Funding not matching demand GPs unemployed
Blame MPs not GPs
3. Cluster headaches - 80% smoke - its a big risk factor so try and stop - also means can use oxygen if needed.
My head is spinning with so much information to digest!
Had an amazing session today @cwtraininghub on headaches with over 100 delegates. Sabine Dedner and Anthony Thomas from @nhsuhcw@mededcov did a fantastic talk. My learning points
1. Risk of medication overuse headache (MOH) if using paracetamol or NSAID for >15d / month for >3m. Can even get with triptans and opiates too. So short sharp treatment best. 2. antiemetics / prokinetics might be needed for acute migraine even if not actually vomiting
Learning points from this weeks meeting on Pancreatic Cancer. 1. On diagnosis in England 7/10 people are for palliative treatment only 2. Common mis diagnoses IBS, gallbladder, heartburn, muscular so ask more about bowels and consider CT TAP
3. Pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) can help symptoms if started early - though there are likely to be supply issues for another year or two. Thank you to Claire from @nhsuhcw and Isobel from @EuropacUK for the talk @cwtraininghub
