@WWheece@Stpolishook @rulaxcx @danido99 Why do members of [ethnic group] like to do [bad thing I categorically decide that ethnic group does]?
Think of how that would sound if it was about any group other than Jews.
But if only the middle is holy why is there a mitzvah to light all 7?
Fire is remarkable because a flame can spread to flammable things while losing none of its own strength
So too is the infinite kedusha of Shabbat.
Just make your week flammable & all 7 days will be bright
I think it's common to see the menorah as 2 sets of 3 plus 1 shamash, but this isn't correct.
The mitzvah is to light all 7, but why?
A central theme of the mishkan is Shabbat/holiness = setting aside one thing as special
The asymmetry of the menorah matches our week
Just as the mishkan is in the center of the camp, but the anan and aish of Hashem still protected them on all sides
That's the power of making kedushah your focus: everything on the periphery benefits from its influence
