this week I suddenly lost my mentor, academic “dad” and biggest cheerleader. it’s not real to me yet, and I still feel shellshocked, but mostly my heart aches for his family, to whom he was extremely close and placed above all else. 💔

(Nearly) 3 years ago I started my job as Lecturer in Chemistry. I'm pleased to report that today I had my final interview of the academic probation period and they decided I can stay.

@ATomekTh We don’t have “tenure” as such in the UK, but essentially yes, it is a permanent position now I’ve reached the end of probation!
