Meanwhile, @celliottability says they're the ones waiting for optometrists to come to the table. But behind closed doors, @derabbie & the OAO haven't heard a PEEP in 2+ months.
This table also costs each side $15K/DAY to be at. For that, it better be a table worth being at.
@fordnation Except for #Optometrists …
for them you offer severe under funding and high expectations of delivering top notch #Eyecare . You continue to underfund #OHIP on the backs of Optometrists making it impossible for us to run our #SmallBiz
@fordnation Premier,
In August 2020, you said you were willing to meet with the #optometrists to resolve the dispute.
14 months later, the @ONOptometrists are still waiting to hear from you.
Will you call today to set up a meeting as soon as possible?
#SaveEyeCare#onpoli
@TrishNuttall@CBCNews Who is doing an eye exam on a senior without dilation? OHIP exams cover every aspect of an eye exam, including tonometry, slit lamp exam, dilation with examination of the funds with aux lenses for the same low price.
@TrishNuttall@invigilator4@CBCNews So you disagree that Alberta doesn’t pay $137 for a full senior exam with dilation? That is the minimum standard in Ontario and is included in the $44 fee.
@celliottability Unfortunately, your blatant disregard for the confidently of the negotiation process and disrespect for @ONOptometrists as our negotiating body has broken an already very thin thread of trust … without a commitment to cost recovery, what do you expect? #SaveEyeCare#onpoli
Special invitation @MareadelPortill... you asked for this a month ago. @celliottability ignored long enough to make your #dreams come true. Hope to meet your there to discuss the problem and help #SaveEyeCare
@celliottability This was unnecessary. @ONOptometrists has been transparent all along, the Ministry has not. There is no commitment to cover operating costs now and in the future. The OAO asked you to help with a cost study, but you refused. This doesn’t come close to righting years of neglect
@celliottability@celliottability Ontario is supposed to be a leader and a “have”province. Not a “have not” province. How do we fall so far behind every other province with publicly funded eye care for Seniors and Children in Canada. Your 8% brings us nowhere close to the next lowest province.
Optometrists are ready for change – and are willing to work with patients and the government to save eye care in Ontario.
