@OurNewsRev Why the word"despite", which can come across as pejorative (there is nothing morally, ethically or legally wrong with holding both appointments)?
"In addition" is a better phrase for this post.

@Sean_Khan09@YaadFinance@penaCosta1 Spot on. Not only do they not have control, but also it is an encroachmemt on our, laws, regulations and policies if they were to meddle in the day-to-day affairs. It is why gov. usually rotates PSs, to oversee these tasks. Of course, Bahamians get upset when that happens too.

@ValaLegz I think the bigger name is "national development". We have constantly decried that we don't have a national plan, finally a ministry devoted to it. Of course, no nplan is legit without at least thinking of incorporating AI. I get the vision.
@HerMajesty242 This has happened quite a few times. Most recently, Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace in 2007, I believe. Westminster allows this to give the freedom to the government to appoint people with select skills, who may not necessarily want the nonsense of "running".
Nah. 1) 2 of Minnis' cabinet won (a 3rd, Gibson, likely would have won; 2) If FNM concerned about his legacy then let him go out on his terms. 3) He would hablve won in Killlarney, easily; 4) election is more a failure of the petulant, out-of-his-depth Pintard than it is Minnis.
Hubert Minnis is the worst thing to happen to Bahamian politics. He ran & won on an agenda of reform then proceeded to not execute. All he had to do was pass laws.
In his final hoorah, he burned down what was left of his legacy. Both he & a few of his former cabinet lost.
@nhayling_ Name me the last black candidate in that area for the FNM? White was not deserving of the nomination vis-a-vis experience last time. But he was conchie joe so he got it. Also, PLP always tried to stick conchie joes in that area (Chris Saunders and Ricardo Treco before that).
@dashicp@JazmineTerese You don't have to be an MP to be a Minister (see Michael Halkitis in this past administration, and Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace some years ago). She would need to be appointed a senator though.
@aworldtraveler2@Dellysammich Cynthia "Mother" Pratt was Perry's substantive Deputy (also served as PM for a time). Another reason, I think, history will be kind to Perry. He was quite the progressive politician, in a time when the zeitgeist was unkind to women politicians - or any woman for that matter.
