To those defending neck manipulation. Let me be clear when I say its not worth it, I mean for both patient AND therapist!
Putting aside if there is or isn’t causation… the facts are many lives have been affected forever due to a treatment that does little. Its just not worth it
Early mobilisation after surgical repair of small and medium sized rotator cuff tears have better post operative ROM and quality of life scores! 🤔 https://t.co/l6WgxdKiJa
Words & phrases to ban in rehab:
•Bone on bone
•Can’t
•Worst (insert joint) I’ve ever seen
•Weak

•Unstable
•You have the (insert joint) of an 80 year old
What am I missing?
“The MRI was clean. You shouldn’t have pain”
“If I showed you a picture of a telephone, could you tell me if it was ringing?”
Patients are not their images. It’s not my job to determine if they have pain; it’s to help find out what may be affecting their pain.
@rcpointdujour @APTANeuroPT THANK YOU!! My PT school has sent me things in the mail with "Ms" on it too 🤢🤢🤢. Been trying to figure out who to write about it. THEY issued our DPT. @mghihp
@DrKai_DPT It's a fantastic question!! I asked this at the interview for my first PT job... They were clever and dodged the question by answering "it's a young company" and I fell for it. Be VERY careful and watch body language with this question. I burned out there. No exaggeration.
Great to receive this letter from @POTUS Biden recognizing @APTAtweets 100 years of advancing physical therapy. Look forward to making individuals & communities healthier in our next century. APTA was founded 101 years ago today in NYC. #FoundersDay
I will die on the hill that the biggest effect on prognosis is not the method of treatment you chose but how well you treat and engage the patient as a person.
The best treatment approach is unlikely to work if the rapport isn’t there.
