Consultant Anaesthetist: University Hospital Bristol, ex-President Hospital Consultant Specialist Association (HCSA),Civil,Commercial & Medical Mediator
Certainly attention grabbing headline but woefully flawed. Interesting that no reference to who these doctors were? Still working as clinicians or now working for government? Or perhaps those that have left as the ‘us’ they refer to is the NHS machine. https://t.co/KgCujOZLa5
Listening to PMQ’s amazes me…things are always quoted as being better resourced, better equipped, more efficient, better funded or better invested in than ‘this time last year’ —then why does it feel like everything referred to is less effective, failing or just plain worse?
@goldstone_tony Excellent demonstration of the facts…if this was actually put in front of the public clearly , following a ‘No ‘ vote on current pay offer, by Consultants, at the beginning of a further strike ..then perhaps there would be more understanding of why we are where we are!
@BigBaldDr @goldstone_tony@Vish_Sharm@BMA_Consultants@trentconsultant@Xeon4f145d96s1 Agreed -we have a waiting list problem & gvmnt priority & pledge is to reduce it.
We don’t have enough workforce capacity on current job plans & are paying out extra rates to do additional work.Given opportunity to redirect spare SPA above core (?1) why wouldn’t it go to DCC?
So, could they sort out doctor pay dispute with that tax cut instead to avert more doctors leaving the NHS and the further extension of waiting lists? The argument that there is not the money seems flawed now!
@OrthopaedicOz Its funny, as a female doctor in training I never thought to correct patients when they said ‘Thankyou nurse’. I thought it would be pretentious , but I now realise how important it is to make a clear distinction between roles, else they become devalued.
Why does it take so long to get supported and heard, requiring an external review ? I have to wonder what the Board, their NEDs and Govenors were doing when staff survey data and walk arounds were done and analysed or weren’t they? https://t.co/GP30UJwNQK
We undervalue our own trained staff & watch them leave. We poach staff from countries where our salaries compare well but then they realise their wages can’t afford a decent living in UK,so use their UK experience & further training to get jobs in Middle East, Australasia, USA.
@Matthew0sb0rne Note doctors are not included and let’s hope we have enough that fits everyone properly to go round , else everyone will look a mess and very unprofessional
