ZELENSKYY: Russia refuses to end the war, if Putin wants to sacrifice another million of his soldiers to keep smashing against this wall, then a million Russians, who not yet been mobilized into Russian army and are arguing in gas lines, should think about what awaits them next.
Mulcair: I was a bit shocked to hear Pierre Poilievre mumble his disapproval [of restoring 24 Sussex] ... But the same Pierre Poilievre ... lives at Stornaway with its dozens of rooms. And it is completely free for Mr. Poilievre and his family. And they're well taken care of in there.
Canada strongly condemns Russia’s latest attack on Kyiv, including the strike on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a sacred site in Ukraine and Eastern Christianity.
Canada stands with Ukraine. Their cause — freedom, democracy, sovereignty — is our cause.
It is important that the world does not remain silent in response to this latest act of Russian barbarism. This strike on the Lavra is an attack on the Christian community and on the cultural heritage of humanity. There can be no justification for this or for any other similar Russian attacks. What is needed is more cooperation to stop Russia’s war and stronger protection to save lives from Russia.
Three days and 36,000 flowers later, the Canadian flag is back along Highway 401. 🇨🇦🌸
Last week, our parks team was hard at work planting the floral Canadian flag display. From months of tending to the begonias in our greenhouses, to preparing the bed and hand-placing each and every flower, this display is truly a labour of love.
Thank you to our floral crew for all of their work in bringing this iconic Belleville landmark to life! 🍁
Surprised that #Russia only now sees #Canada as rejecting their illegal invasion of #Ukraine. Miss the days when #Russia sat at the #arctic council as a trusted partner state.
"We reserve the right to an adequate response."
Russia’s foreign ministry says Canada has “moved to a qualitatively new level of involvement” in the war in Ukraine, declaring that “all masks have been discarded” and framing Canada not as a peace‑seeking state but a “warmonger.”
We have intelligence data indicating that Russia is preparing for a new massive attack. It is important that all our partners know what is happening and that Russia continues to rely on missiles and further war, not diplomatic steps. First of all, this means that additional sanctions pressure on Russia is needed and that the implementation of our air defense arrangements with partners cannot be delayed.
I discussed the relevant tasks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha – what must be done in the coming weeks and which steps by partners can most effectively support our defense. Anti-ballistic defense is the key task. We are also preparing our detailed proposals for a new European sanctions package and additional measures against the circumvention of existing sanctions. I thank everyone who is helping protect life!
I strongly condemn Russia’s drone strike on a residential building in Romania 🇷🇴, injuring civilians on @NATO and #EU territory.
This reckless attack shows again that Russia’s war threatens all of Europe.
My solidarity is with the people and government of Romania. @oana_toiu
This week, I prepared a special letter addressed to the President of the United States and to Congress. And yesterday, the letter was officially delivered to the institutions in Washington. It is quite rare for the leader of another state to address both the President and Congress of the United States simultaneously with a letter. But the situation now requires action, swift and effective action.
It is important that America hear Ukraine. We understand that much of the world’s attention is currently focused on the war in Iran. But the war here in Europe must also be brought to an end a very bloody war that is already in its fifth year at full scale.
The sooner we are able to provide greater protection against ballistic threats, the sooner we will be able to make diplomacy work. As long as Russia continues to rely on missiles, its interest in diplomacy is not real. We must correct this. And we can do so only together with America.
Ukraine is grateful to America for all its support. And Ukraine will be even more grateful for a dignified peace and guaranteed security. All of this is possible – if there is sufficient determination.
It is interesting that after Ukraine limited the intelligence it shared with the Pentagon and stopped asking permission for deep strikes, the tactical situation in the Russia-Ukraine War completely changed.
Are you in favour of expelling Hoekstra US Ambassador supporting Alberta separating from Canada?
If so - keep passing this on - until we get a response from the politicians
I genuinely have no words for the horrors coming out of Gaza tonight. I just saw a video of a beheaded baby. This is the systematic slaughter of innocent people, carried out in front of the entire world.
Steven Guilbeault has devoted his career to protecting our environment and fighting climate change. As he prepares to step down from his seat in Parliament this summer, I want to thank him for his service to the people of Laurier—Sainte-Marie and Canada.
Steven’s many contributions in civil society and public service have always been guided by his convictions and driven by his pursuit of a stronger, more inclusive, and more sustainable future. In government, he helped establish the 2022 Kunming-Montréal Global Biodiversity Framework to protect 30% of Canada’s lands and waters, implemented Canada’s first emissions reduction plan, and championed landmark efforts to protect Canadian culture and identity, including establishing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
I am grateful for Steven’s leadership and expertise as a cabinet colleague and a member of our caucus.
Our government shares a commitment to climate ambition, climate competitiveness and the preservation of Canada’s extraordinary natural heritage. We are advancing these missions with the same determination, a new spirit of partnership, and a renewed focus on results that will support Canadian families today and deliver for our kids and grandkids tomorrow.
I wish Steven and his family all the best as he begins this next chapter.
Outgoing Governor General Mary Simon on receiving abusive messages on social media: "It was a surprise, but it was also, I think, a reflection of what is still here. That there is a division in terms of the role Indigenous people are entitled to play as the first inhabitants of this country."
Israel has destroyed nearly 38,000 Lebanese homes, almost 1,100 every day for 35 days.
These are war crimes under international law: Wanton devastation not justified by military necessity.
