I chased everything the world said would satisfy, and I still came up empty. Then I found the one thing that did, and it is in this song. Listen to the end. This is an worship song.
Psalm 56:3, 8–9
David had run from Saul and landed in the Philistine city of Gath, the hometown of Goliath, the giant he had killed. The king's servants knew who he was, and the Bible says David was sore afraid. The psalm's own heading tells us it was written there, in an enemy city, when the Philistines took him.
Afraid and far from home, he did not pray for a way out first. He prayed for his tears.
…What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee…
…Thou tellest my wanderings… put thou my tears into thy bottle… are they not in thy book?…
God keeps count of where you have wandered, and He is not only counting your steps. He is keeping the tears you cried in the dark, where nobody saw them.
…When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back… this I know… for God is for me…
You may have cried yourself to sleep tonight, and you may think nobody noticed. Not one tear fell without landing in His BOTTLE
@Biblicalman This one stopped me, and it is a gentle warning worth sitting with. It deserved to be turned into a poster because these words deserve to be seen slowly.
@Jentezen I was moved by this reminder from Jentezen that our hardest places can become stepping stones. I made it into a poster for him, with gratitude for his encouragement.
@FaotuHappy I read these words slowly and felt them settle in my heart. This poster is with thanks for the gentle reminder to notice what we already have.
