The right wing of the U.S. Congress wants to restrict our freedom to read AND our access to fat bears? Unacceptable.
Stop telling educators to practice self-care. Instead, put forth energy to eliminate the systems, structures, and practices that require educators to need so much self-care in the first place.
Educators often find themselves supporting the emotional healing of their students, not just their academic growth. Schools need to understand and address the ways in which student trauma affects our education professionals. @jessica_lander

Weather update: Out of an abundance of caution for weather-related impacts, including poor road conditions, in-person activities and events on campus on Sunday, August 20 and Monday, August 21 will be rescheduled or canceled. The university and campus will remain open.

Redlands Unified School District has made the decision to close schools, school support sites, and after-school programs tomorrow, Monday August 21. The District will resume school and school-operated functions on Tuesday, August 22 until further notice.
Due to severe weather conditions later this evening into tomorrow, FUSD will close schools tomorrow, Monday, August 21, 2023. The district office will remain open, and all maintenance and operations teams will come in to ensure sites are ready for students on Tuesday.

Today, some of the books that shaped my life—and the lives of so many others—are being challenged by people who disagree with certain ideas or perspectives. And librarians are on the front lines, fighting every day to make the widest possible range of viewpoints, opinions, and ideas available to everyone.
I keep stressing as I work with teachers this summer that rigor is not measured by the amount of texts or work we assign but rather what we're asking students to do with the texts.
