Pathologist, ex-Vice President for Communications, Royal College of Pathologists. The views expressed here are my own and not necessarily those of the RCPath.
As voting enters its final days, here’s a quick reminder. This image may show an extra finger but it does capture something important: optimism. If you believe pathology should continue to lead and to set the standard for modern medicine—make your vote count.
#RCPathPresident.
It is easy to be introspective in times of difficulty. However, the RCPath has always been more than a UK fellowship. International partnerships would remain a personal priority for my term as President, should I be elected this month.
Presidential election: DON’T FORGET TO VOTE!
Pathology training and assessment must evolve to reflect the changing service. Providing a digitally based exams platform (hosted online or in local centres at home and overseas) will be a vital part of assessment strategy. RCPath Presidential Elections: PLEASE VOTE! #pathtwitter
As president of the RCPath, I would lobby for increased numbers of (fully funded) training posts (removing the need for local trusts to pay half the costs) and a properly structured and funded career pathway for consultant scientists.
DON’T FORGET TO VOTE!
The two most important issues for the new President of the RCPath are lobbying for improved investment in all staff groups and equitable implementation of new technology across the service. In my nomination video, I deal with these issues in more detail. Don’t forget to vote!
Over the next fortnight I will be posting info about current issues and the action I would plan to take if you vote me into office next month. This will include questions on staffing, workload, training, career progression, international partnerships, new technology and estates.
Calling all Fellows and Diplomates of the Royal College of Pathologists!
Voting opens tomorrow in the election for the new President of the RCPath and runs for a month. Good luck to all my fellow candidates! #PathTwitter#pathology
@RachaelLiebmann Sorry @Nadeem_Moghal, you are wrong. As Chair of the Histopath CATT in late 2000s & RCPath Director of Training early 2010s, colleagues & I repeatedly told government that we needed to increase training posts but all specialty training numbers were cut by government anyway.
@AnnaCEdwards@dadmann_walking S’okay, we sent our middle son to school with a broken leg 12 years ago. Even medics do it. Plus, he started at Sandhurst last week - obviously character building... :-)
