If there was any remaining chance for SCOTUS to be seen as above politics, that chance was obliterated yesterday. #TrumpvUnitedStates@drdow https://t.co/rB1JWV97SA
AIPAC mourns the passing of Melvin Dow, a brilliant and dedicated champion of the Jewish people and the U.S.-Israel relationship.
Melvin was elected AIPAC National President in 1996 as a soft-spoken but commanding consensus-builder who shepherded the organization through a time of immense change and challenge.
A United States veteran, respected attorney, and community leader, Melvin was always a trusted voice and reliable advisor to friends, family, and members of Congress.
He would routinely call on senators and representatives from opposite sides of the aisle and then welcome them to his home on consecutive nights of the week, advancing the pro-Israel cause with his commanding knowledge of history and world affairs, grace, and common sense.
The pro-Israel community is saddened by this immense loss. Melvin strengthened all of us with his presence in our lives, and we offer our most sincere condolences to his treasured wife of 65 years, Frieda Dow, and their entire family.
