Do other beta readers also get nervous when you hand back the manuscript with your notes and your reader's report? I really hope every time that I'm giving them back good feedback that they can use.
if you feel like sending a writer a kind message, do it. if you want to share with them how much their work has meant to you: do it. i know it can feel like you are bothering them but trust me when i say it can make their day! 💕
Dear writers:
Send that email.
Write that story.
Edit mercilessly.
Ignore the haters.
Stay humble, but be confident.
Get paid.
Read everything.
Write despite your insecurity.
Support others.
Accept helpful criticism.
Celebrate everything.
Don't panic.
Never quit.
You got this.
currently trying to do my part in the community by leaving reviews for books I've read and forgotten to review, since I'm now in the place of needing reviews myself!
this is your reminder to leave a review for a book -- especially an indie book -- you've read!
So, cannot emphasize enough how much editing is a skill, and how you should consider what your writer is trying to achieve before leaving a single note on a single page.
You are not there to tell your story, you are there to help someone else tell theirs. (1/3)
@CatherineDunn8 My husband is a cook and they use these to cover up cuts on their fingers. Usually they'll clean it, put on a band aid then pop these on over.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but:
QUERY THAT FANCY AGENT.
That agent is not too fancy for you. They are not too big or too famous for you. Are they open? Do they rep your genre? QUERY THEM.
I believe in you, kisses!!!!
@myelessar Bilbo would adore me. I always bring baked goods when I visit, I am quiet and calm but enjoy lovely conversation, I follow social norms, would never over stay my welcome, and I would offer polite compliments to his home.
Currently booked up with two 100k word beta reads that needed to be finished in a week. Just finished the first one in two days because it was so good. Now on to the second!
@budman_mark I mainly read litrpg and fantasy which can easily be over 100k. Litrpgs especially are usually over 100k. I just break it up with reading middle grade fantasy so my brain doesn't explode.
