@devpanchwagh Its OK if this makes you nervous. A 2nd is not nothing, and it always makes you worry when one team is giving up on a guy. By the book it is probably an overpay. But his cap hit is quite low, and this has WAY more upside than a move like getting KZ.
@realjakevogel It is VERY worrisome if Declan was influenced by media/fan criticism. I'm cool to give him the benefit of the doubt for someone still learning to call plays, but the short yardage decisions were terrible yesterday. Esp given you knew DAL had such a poor secondary.
@devpanchwagh There are thoughtful people out there with different opinions on Lamar, but the range from "Elite +" to merely "Elite".
If you are hanging on to "can't throw" you are telling on yourself.
@devpanchwagh As amazing as Miles Garrett is, had any other team given up that package to get him, I would be ripping them. Because the Rams have such a limited window, it makes sense for them.
Also, some people forget that Trey Hendrickson exists?
@devpanchwagh An interesting question is this: if paying a player like Linderbaum isn't worth paying on an extension, is he worth drafting R1 period?
This isn't about who else was available, because hindsight is 20/20. That's not fair. But it does go to an important positional value question.
@nikknowsball@BaltimoreLuke This makes so much sense. Tough to use a 53 spot on a QB from another team who doesn't know your system + is unlikely to see the field. The vast majority of waiver claims are depth positions.
Plus remember, every other team scouted Fagnano and didn't draft him.
@ColeJacksonFB The Fagnano story is great, but with 1,000 players that need to get cut in the NFL, are teams really going to jump on an UDFA like that? And do we really need a 3rd QB?
We KNOW we will need depth at other positions. If we are actually down to QB3, the season is off the rails.
@HuddleItUpFilms Strong agree. Odds we need QB3 are low. Odds we need depth elsewhere, almost guaranteed.
I also think fans are overrating how many other teams would be eager to add an UDFA to their 53. Maybe he gets picked up, but it isn't a lock.
@Obafemi30@FilmstudyRavens Even if we lose him, odds we need our 3rd QB **and the season is still going OK** are low. Odds we need an extra OL is roughly 100%.
@FilmstudyRavens@Obafemi30 I'm pretty strongly out on keeping QB3 on the 53. I'd way rather have the 10th OL. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think we've got a better shot at keeping Fagnano on the PS vs. the last OL.
@ColeJacksonFB Last year's Bears got off to a bit of a slow start offensively. Reportedly it was taking time for Caleb & co to adjust to the complexities of Ben Johnson's offense.
Could we go through the same thing? Hearing the O struggling at times in camp has me worried about that.
