@ibrake4ants @nickelpin The Omnimask has 3 valves: 2 on the side filters to block outgoing breath and 1 on the bottom filter to block incoming breath. This is just to direct the flow of air for comfort, but as long as ALL openings have filters (like Dentec NxMD) the valves are not necessary for safety.

@ibrake4ants @nickelpin Dentec originally made only vented elastomerics like 3M etc. In 2021 they introduced a ventless one— the "NxMD"— with the same filters filtering both in-breath and out-breath and with no valves. Since the NxMD is NIOSH-approved, I assume there's no harm in removing valves.

@ibrake4ants @nickelpin I didn't notice that. It could be that the Dentec filter holders you're using don't have a valve blocking your outgoing breath, which the two Omnimask filter holders on the sides do have (the third Omnimask filter holder on the bottom has a valve blocking your INCOMING breath).

@nickelpin Hey Nic! Thought you'd like to know that Dentec filters work perfectly with the transparent Omnimask! Just pop out the inside part of the Dentec filter holder, and pop it into the Omnimask facepiece. Then with a tiny bit of extra pushing the Dentec filter will attach airtight!

Are you sure what they gave you didn't expire in July *2023*? (Novavax expiration dates are not shown on vials, but must be looked up in online database— mistakes are easy!)
