'No winds are blowing in our favour'. Sadly, that sentiment feels all too familiar for many involved in the horse racing industry.

From trainers and stable staff, to hospitality workers and racegoers, thousands of people depend on a thriving racing industry.

We asked those involved why policymakers need to better understand the realities of racing before introducing legislation that affects it.

In budget week - @andyburnham @UKLabour @AlexBallingerMP here are just a few reasons horse racing is important. You rarely mention any of them. Might be worth just considering a few…🏇🙏

🟢85,000 jobs
🟢Community growth, rural vitality
🟢Hundreds of years of history
🟢World exporter/global trade
🟢Top class Horse Welfare
🟢Bookmakers paying £millions to  help those with addiction
🟢Charity work, helping those who  need it most
🟢Children using racetracks for  schoolwork — fantastic for maths
🟢Second most watched sport in  the country
🟢Daily interest and participation
🟢Protects the Thoroughbred breed
🟢Terrestrial TV coverage
🟢Veterinary expertise
🟢Strengthens diplomatic ties  across the world
🟢Loved by Kings, Queens, world  leaders and celebrities

🏇🙏🙏🙏
