Bilton told the 60 Minutes staff that Weiss loves the institution. Pelley said out loud, in the room, in front of everyone: she was brought in to kill it and she's doing exactly that.
One of Weiss's people kept saying Pelley was being rude. Pelley kept going.
Wray resigned quietly. Kelly gave interviews after. Mattis, Barr, McConnell - all of them knew and none of them said it while they were still in the building.
Pelley said it while he was still in the building. That's the whole difference.
Wow. Look at the reaction to Hunter’s post.
So many of us have been waiting for someone to say this out loud, and fittingly, it came from the person who has actually lived through the nonstop bullshit pushed by people like Jake Tapper.
Hunter Biden has every right to call it what it is. The double standards. The obsession. The media’s endless appetite for Biden family drama while Trump and his family openly cash in.
I only hope the Pod Boys are next.
Bravo, Hunter.
I have watched 60 Minutes my whole life.
So have millions of Americans. For nearly 40 years, Scott Pelley was part of why. He is one of the truly great American journalists, and CBS just fired him, one day after he stood up in a staff meeting and told the truth about what is being done to the institution he gave his career to.
Pelley said new management told him to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story, and to report claims that had not been verified. A journalist of his caliber refused.
For that, he was shown the door.
He is praying for a day when sanity, competence, and courage return to that newsroom. So am I.
This is bigger than one man losing one job. 60 Minutes has held the powerful to account since 1968. When the people willing to ask hard questions are pushed out and replaced by people willing to soften the story, every American loses a watchdog we did not know how much we needed until it was gone.
Scott Pelley deserved better.
The country deserves better. A free press does not survive on its reputation. It survives on people with the spine to defend it, and we should all be paying attention to what is happening.

Trump again insulted @kaitlancollins in the Oval Office today.
Enough is enough...
I'M CALLING FOR A BOYCOTT. IT'S TIME FOR ALL MEDIA TO STOP COVERING TRUMP!
Why does she continue to take this abuse? Why do other reporters continue to allow him to speak this way to their friends?
This is wildly inappropriate from the President of the United States.
⛔️Jared Kushner admits his friend Nat Rothschild was the one who helped him find his new off-the-grid private island in the middle of the Mediterranean while he was on his boat on vacation.
⛔️Kushner says he had a private meeting with Albania’s Prime Minister on Rothschild’s boat.‼️
I worked at CBS News for almost 6 years. It was a place that frequently drove me crazy bc of how resistant it was to change. How difficult it was to get things done bc you had to fight so many people and their “Cronkite and Murrow would roll over in their graves if they saw” mentality.
For those who think Scott Pelley was part of the problem, you are wrong. Yes he could be rigid and a stickler for certain traditions. But I will tell you now the Gen Z people I worked w all loved him. Like me, they forgave a lot of his boomer ways bc we were in awe of investigations he did using hidden cameras exposing snake oil salesmen hurting Americans; showing us how Assad was using chemical weapons on his own people; the pain of rural Americans waiting for half a day to get affordable healthcare in a parking lot of a mobile clinic; his searing interviews w survivors of mass shootings.
Yeah he was old fashioned in some ways. I used to tease him bc he always had trouble pronouncing Beyoncé’s name.
But he was willing to be pushed. He was open to new ideas. The fact that someone like me and someone like him got along so well is proof of that. The guy made me a better thinker and a better journalist.
When I called out Trump years ago for being a danger to democracy, a free press, and truth itself, I was accused of making myself the story and showboating. How did things turn out? Trump is all of those things. Tonight, the free press is very much in danger in America. Wake up!
it's a tough call who to believe between the guy who had every financial incentive to just shut up and keep cashing checks and the woman whose job it is to systematically destroy the CBS News apparatus without you noticing
Albania’s parliament must launch an immediate investigation into Prime Minister Edi Rama’s controversial sale of Sazan Island. Valued at $1.4 billion, this protected national treasure was sold to Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law.
OMG. Jared Kushner is working with two Syrian billionaires to build his megaresort in Albania. Their assets have been frozen there. In exchange, they wanted Syrian sanctions in the U.S. to be dropped.
I hope Jared's assets are frozen, too.

The Owners of CBS are trying to put together a State Media, that controls the news and favors Trump. They went after Scott Pelley and 60 Minutes, they went after Stephen Colbert and now they are going after Jimmy Kimmel. They have to be stopped. MS NOW
