Open air. Guests nearby. No hardened ballroom.

Presidents obviously need extraordinary security.

But that's precisely the point:

Security can follow the president without requiring a 650-seat ballroom.

If the underground facilities, communications and protective infrastructure are necessary, build the case for them.

But stop using “national security” as if it automatically proves the ballroom is necessary.
