In medical school I got told by a consultant to speak less 'Blackpool evening gazette and more BMJ' (British medical journal). Last month I got asked to be part of this BMJ podcast with @MartinRCGP . I really really hope the consultant sees this!! my bit is from 22.10.
@FishwickDavid I'm a local GP in Rossendale- I would love to speak/ email you about a project for local teenagers- connecting them with good male role models. I think you would be excellent!
Yesterday we welcomed poet Paul Jenkins as part of the Safer Rossendale male role model project. We enjoyed a creative workshop and we were inspired by Paul's personal and career journey. #Storytelling#Respect#Ambition#TogetherWeAreStrong
@drchatterjeeuk@Channel4 Hello! I'm a GP in Rossendale (East Lancs) I do various community projects including a parent and child cooking class- I would love to invite you to one of those sessions. I think you would love it!
Wonderful to welcome a new family to our cook session. Feeling privelged to see how this project is developing life skills and forging friendships. Many thanks to Dr Emma and her team #TogetherWeAreStrong
@jo_bartosch Hello! I have not been on twitter for ages but I had to contact you after hearing part of your interview. It was so alarming- where did you get the stats from. I work as a GP but I'm heavily involved in community projects for young people. Feel we need to cover this!
Another great night at family cook. Donna from ELCAS joined Dr Emma and her team and we enjoyed cooking, chatting and thinking about how we could expand our project. Amazed at how much our cooking skills are developing. #TogetherWeAreStrong#BeEngaged
I must have spoken to well over 100 headteachers across the country recently and they're all saying the same things:
Many, many more pupils with complex SEND needs.
More challenging behaviour and at a younger age.
Too little specialist provision.
Frustrated families.
Social Services bar too high.
Public services skint and burnt out staff.
No real Ofsted reform.
Falling birth rates.
People are angry.
Communities in despair.
Funding thatโs nowhere near enough.
Schools are holding the system together but itโs becoming unsustainable - they can't keep asking more and more of staff, with less and less. Something has to give.
Without urgent reform and real investment, I'm worried that this could be the year we've all known was coming and education finally breaks.
