This year at @WSFBrisbane I'll be talking on a panel about my work and being #TransinSTEM. I regularly hear from young scientists worried they can't do STEM because of being #trans/#LGBT. You can! Diversity will make you an asset 🏳️🌈Come join me on March 12

Practise a moment of patience & compassion for your fellow academics.
We're all in this shark tank together.

2002: high school accounting teacher tells me I can't add with a calculator
2021: I take postgrad health economics...
suddenly 14 again & struggling over a balance sheet despite my calc-intensive PhD
Proof that "smart" comes in myriad flavours
Also, biochemistry is my jam.
@BenVezina Same experience with Telstra. We notified them of the move on 8/8, moved on 6/7... got nbn working 13/8 after many hours revisiting the store, phoning the helpline, lodging a complaint & gathering evidence for the TO. Debits didn't stop tho, just the wifi.

Throwback to 5 years ago when Tony Fauci, at 74 yo, was suiting up to treat an Ebola patient himself because he "wanted to show his staff that he wouldn't ask them to do anything he wouldn't do himself". This is what leadership looks like. https://t.co/QctW672ykC
Never let anyone tell you that writing grant applications is boring. I don't think I've had this much excitement in my life since the hulk rollercoaster in Orlando. Result of both experiences was the same: 50% exhilarated, 50% sick with nerves #research
