As mycoplasma surges and now also COVID my day is filled with >50% cases sick with something, no one is swabbing, or masking and I am sending as many as I can for a PCR.
I was talking to a patient saying each year everyone is sicker than the last, the media attempts to normalise surging cases of mycoplasma and pertussis and frankly I have never seen this during my medical career, especially during periods where respiratory infections used to be minimal.
I was drawing comparison to the UK where charities like @LongCovidKids exists as a case in point, something we don’t have here….yet. As the consensus still seems to be that it’s just a mild cold despite the fact every single day in WA 71 patients are hospitalised.
Covid is rising, indoor events continue, super spreading is happening and our biggest wave ran for 4 months last time and into the next wave.
December/January is going to be messy for sickness. Oh dear.
