February 6, 2023:

On February 3, a freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. On the 6th, officials conducted a controlled release & burn of 5 vinyl chloride tanks. A temperature inversion caused toxic smoke to linger over the town.

May 31, 1985:

One of the worst outbreaks ever to hit the Northeast US and Canada spawned 44 tornadoes. Nine tornadoes were violent, the strongest of which was an F5 that devastated Niles, OH and Wheatland, PA. Many other towns in PA, OH, and ON were left in ruins.
