With The Rings Of Power Season 3 having a five year time jump, there is a prologue sequence to begin the season similar to The Fellowship of the Ring to get audiences up to speed and go over the War of the Elves of Sauron, according to Empire magazine.

The VFX work in so much of the footage especially today is top tier but then there's some compositing work in the trailer that looks quite off. Hoping it gets evened out by the time the season premieres.

I personally like the release schedule as I've said, but the response seems negative enough that I wonder if Amazon will reconsider.

I'd like a compromise - four weeks, 2 episodes a week.

I frankly wouldn't be surprised if it's partially about keeping weekly ratings up.

I have to say I’m not sure what the plan is here. This sounds cool, but is the purpose of the One not to control the 3? The 9 seem to be working their intended purpose. Does Sauron just want one of the three to conquer all 3?

The Nazgnagôl, according to Charlie Vickers, are "searching for the three elven rings. If they can find the three elven rings then maybe Sauron can reverse engineer the technology to make the One Ring."

The Balrog this season has a scene with Sauron. They are both the same class of being - he has to approach it with respect - his usual tricks don't work. Balrogs know how to live in fire, Sauron is going to go into a volcano. "He goes to the balrog to try and learn this power."

JD Payne: "His usual tricks don’t work. His usual manipulations - the balrog is able to just look at him and say, yeah I remember you when you were not the person you are now. And doesn’t just automatically respect and fear him because of who he is. [...] How do you get knowledge from a creature you can’t extort, threaten, or coerce? Sauron has to up his game and find something that the balrog wants."

I've been wondering for a while if the idea behind at least the marketing of Season 3 would be to approach it as a kind of soft reboot. Shifting the focus much more to being a more direct prequel to Lord of the Rings, to appeal more to general audiences.

I wonder if being called shadow of Morgoth hits him additionally because Morgoth couldn't create, only corrupt, and he realizes he can't achieve true creation. In the end I expect, in accordance with the text, he basically twists and sacrifices his own soul for the One Ring.
