Is the BBC Scotland refusal to use the Scottish term 'jag' for vaccinations a middle class thing? They all mostly say 'jag'. Scots have overwhelmingly used 'jag' for decades. Do these presenters say 'jabby nettle' instead of jaggy nettle? Is Partick Thistle 'the jabs' to them?
The really weird thing is that this used to be something the independence movement campaigned for - 'a Scottish 6' - and now nobody really cares because the BBC in Scotland has been very badly mismanaged, infantilised and reduced.
One of the first people to promote the idea that Zionism was racism was not in fact the Soviets but UK cabinet minister Edwin Montagu, the only Jewish member of the Cabinet when the Balfour Declaration was issued, which he opposed, calling Zionism a ‘mischievous political creed’.
When Zionists claim they yearn for "peace" they're not using the normal definition of that word. They mean they want everyone who opposes Israel to be dead or disarmed. The "peace" they yearn for is the peace you experience in an empty room. The peace of a graveyard.
Burnham making the case for why we should renationalise electricity and gas immediately before explaining a very tepid alternative. That seems to be this government in a nutshell so far. Good at identifying the problems but coming up with weak willed non-solutions.
The message here is that the English Left, those who want to reverse neoliberalism and rebuild social-democracy, cannot let the 'sell it & slash it' Right masquerade as the champions of English tradition or national identity. The nation's culture and heritage belong to all.
I'm on the left because I support a decent quality of life ordinary working people. I love everything good & wholesome: trad architecture, churches, high trust societies, village greens, pubs, folk customs, old literature, formal clothing, cute dogs, monogamy, stable families. 1/
