You worry too much about what other people think of you. You think too much before posting something. You hesitate on leaving the job you’ve fallen out of love with to try something new. What you’re passionate about is thrown to the wayside once again because you can’t bear to reveal it to others.
You’re focused purely on what can go wrong and what other people will think of you if it does.
I truly believe that if we continue to deny ourselves opportunities because we don’t want to take these risks, then we end up losing so much more in the long term than we ever would by failing.
By not accepting these risks, we hand agency over our lives to failures that might never happen or the irrelevant opinions of others. The more we do that, the further away we’ll drift from what we’re really capable of doing.
In other words, when we let these fears creep in, we concede the control we have over our lives.
I’ve realised a trend in my writing.
Spend time on a first draft, too much time.
Delete it all and empty the clip on a one shot second draft and it’s 10 times better than the first.
Trying too hard on the first and playing with the second.
Reaching levels you didn’t think you were capable of will only come when you take on risk in situations where you have zero tangible evidence that you’re capable of taking that risk on.
In other words, the leap into a depth you’ve never experienced before is the only way to move forward.
