My greatest claim to chess fame is that I was able to stalemate @KatieKormanik once in a chess game. Of course she handily beat me every other time we played. In any case big congrats on the new book!
In 2010, I was one of the top 100 women chess players in the US. This chapter was one of the most defining in my life. So, I wanted to share my coming-of-age story, both on and off the board. https://t.co/FHBEAhHOog

Here is my photo of the great American total solar eclipse from last month.
Everyone should make a point to see a total solar eclipse at least once in their life. #Eclipse2024
Breaking my Twitter moratorium to make sure astronomers are aware there is a new supernova in M101 at 7 Mpc. It is a core collapse supernova caught very young, at 14.9 mag. Supernovae this close only come around once a decade, so get on it! https://t.co/s3a6CuxLMd
These are two photos I took
The 1st one I took on Thursday
The 2nd one I took on Friday
In the lower right corner of the galaxy you will see a little star that gets brighter.
That's a super nova! The star is getting brighter is because it exploded in between the two photos
I just found out that in reality if you put a frog in boiling water he burns to death before he can jump out. And if you turn up the heat slowly he eventually gets uncomfortable and jumps out.
Everything I know is a lie.
This is the first star photo I ever took, taken at the base of Mt. Everest. You can see the famous mountain in the background
No tripod. I didn’t know what I was doing. I just put my camera on the background and hit the button and got lucky.
This still is one of my best photos
Anyways, next time you are looking at the stars under a dark clear night, find Orion and look for his sword hanging from his belt. Know that you will be staring at one of the brightest, and in my opinion, most beautiful objects in the sky.

My picture of M42: The Orion Nebula
Have you ever noticed how fuzzy Orion's sword is? The stars there aren't clear and bright like the rest of Orion
That's because Orion's sword is actually a huge nebula... a nebula that also happens to be really unique for pictures: 🧵
Side note, The Orion Nebula actually is one of the few deep space things you can see in a telescope which actually looks like the pictures... it's not just a fuzzy smudge like most of deep space. With the right telescope and a clear night you'll even see color!
