Race is 16 weeks away and my “for real, for real” day 1 started with a base run tonight: 30 min with an RPE of ~2-3. Nighttime runs can feel so good - even when you’re dressed like a neon highlighter and have pockets stuffed with safety whistles and the like (just for you, Mom).
“Normal or nah” except I don’t care either way… part of onboarding with Coach @RobertPickels entailed giving dates of anything that training had to be planned around. Sent him not only a list of all the concerts and camping trips, big days and celebrations, travel plans, but also hyperlinked every concert to the actual music in case he wanted to check them out. Never miss an opp to share good music.
It’s official - I have a coach! And not just any coach, it’s @RobertPickels. Feeling really grateful to work with one of my favorite humans as I start training for my first multi-sport endurance event this fall. definitely not as cool to see the final score of nuggets losing from your phone before takeoff, but hey, I’ll take the memory of the cheers, the jokes amongst strangers and fans, and the collective smirks watching others check their phones for how late they can arrive to their gate
Tonight was one of my favorite travel experiences. I watched the last half of game 7 at MSP ✈️ where restaurants and bars kept their TVs on (despite closing) with crowds of travelers watching from outside their barriers. Sat between a D1 ref and a diehard @nuggets fan at the first bar and stood among a crowd of @Timberwolves fans in the terminal hallway after that. Not sure any of us boarded when we were supposed to, but no regrets - and - all is fair in love and basketball? Well, maybe not for the ref or the agent at the gate… but for the rest of us.
As a part of our work in testing out new spring recipes, a couple months ago our team hiked to an amphitheater overlooking Boulder for a picnic with these hot honey chicken and waffles… 10/10 recommend giving this recipe a try 😩
