When my mom was diagnosed with brain cancer and everything she had to go through when I was in medical school, it solidified me wanting to become a neurosurgeon. And even further, it gave me the experience base that I would use for the rest of my career when talking with patients and their families and loved ones about end of life care.
And for anyone reading this who has lost a parent when they were younger, I promise you it gets better and you can accomplish great things. Keep going.
