Please stop using fake accounts. Any slanderous remarks made by these accounts will be used against you. This is precisely one of the reasons why the ʿulamāʾ have described some of you as plants, @AbuIyaadSP.
Personally, I don’t care about these individuals. However, when you neither stop them nor speak out against their behaviour, nobody with knowledge and wisdom can reasonably defend you. Bārakallāhu fīk.
And with all that COVID nonsense, you’re completely missing the point.
The Daʿwah will move to London: a beautiful Daʿwah, free from racism. May Allaah bless these efforts and grant them success.
Shaykh @AbuHakeemBilal is the student of knowledge we trust the most, although all the students have khayr in them. I witnessed Shaykh Rabīʿ showing him great affection, and he was the one who translated live at Shaykh Rabīʿ’s home.
As for the others, their behaviour raises serious concerns about anti-Black attitudes. We will stand against racism for the sake of Allaah.
So, when @AbuHakeemBilal, @Abdulilah_UK and others choose to defend the scholars, they are suddenly no longer trustworthy? Yet, when they choose your side, there is no problem?
If this isn’t hizbiyyah, then please tell me what hizbiyyah is.
There was an opportunity for islaah, but our brothers at @SalafiPubs chose not to take it, despite having been the ones who asked for it!

I will ignore you. You have clearly no idea what you are talking about. This is the outcome of not following the scholars.
Did he call six-feet distancing shirk?
YES, EXPLICITLY, THEN SOFTENED
In the first full version of the article (Wayback capture of 15 January 2024), Abu Iyaad wrote of six-feet distancing between healthy people:
“Indeed, this affair evidently enters into minor shirk …”
and placed it on a par with wearing a bracelet for pain relief, which his own translation of Ibn ʿUthaymīn classes as minor shirk.
By 22 June 2024, “minor shirk” had been replaced with “superstition”, and a footnote had been added:
“Superstition … underlies some aspects of minor shirk.”
The page gives no notice of the change. The bracelet comparison and the reference to Ibn ʿUthaymīn on “minor shirk” stayed. In 2025 they were expanded, and they are still live today.
Assessment: he did claim it. The explicit wording was removed within about five months, but the substance (that distancing equals the bracelet, and that the bracelet is minor shirk) is still on the page.
The same qualifiers as in the facemasks article apply. He enjoined obedience to the authorities, and he ties the ruling to the belief and fear behind the act.
In April 2025 he wrote that he “never accused a single person of minor shirk”.
So, again, I will repeat this burning sentence over and over again. Which scholar says that six-feet distancing between healthy people evidently enters into minor shirk?
The Minor Shirk Ruling on Universal Masking — What the Archived Evidence Actually Shows
From at least 18 October 2023 to 27 December 2024, the facemasks article contained the following statement in a highlighted box, directly after its discussion of masking and distancing policies:
“Whoever made something to be a means (sabab) what is not a means, in terms of the creational asbāb, then he has fallen into minor shirk.”
The same article repeatedly stated that universal masking of healthy people “is not from ‘the means’”.
Read together, these statements classified universal masking of healthy people, when done in the belief that masks provide protection, as minor shirk.
1. The Statement Was Removed
The statement no longer appears in any archived capture from 21 December 2025 onward.
There is no notice on the page explaining its removal.
However, the same reasoning remains published elsewhere on his website.
The linked article, “Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn on … Minor Shirk”, which has remained substantively unchanged since at least October 2023, explicitly states that he translated those minor-shirk statements:
“in the context of … universal masking and social distancing policies”
It further states that these policies:
“are not from the means at all. See entry for facemasks.”
This directly connects the discussion of minor shirk to universal masking and social distancing policies.
2. What He Did — and Did Not — Declare
For accuracy, an important distinction must be maintained.
He did not declare that every act of wearing a mask constitutes shirk.
He explicitly exempted circumstances such as:
Hospitals and surgical procedures.
Being around sick individuals.
Situations involving official mandates, where he instructed people to comply “not out of belief”.
Furthermore, in April 2025, he stated:
“I never accused a single person of minor shirk.”
Therefore, the accurate claim is not that he declared the physical act of wearing a mask to be shirk.
Rather, he classified the belief underlying universal masking of healthy people — treating masks as a protective means — as minor shirk.
These are two different claims and should not be conflated.
So, again, which scholar says that wearing a universal mask between healthy people and treating this as a protective means is minor shirk?
3. The Brother’s Rebuttal
The rebuttal states:
“Nowhere … did he declare the act of wearing a mask as shirk, minor or major.”
NOT ACCURATE AS A REBUTTAL OF THE HISTORICAL CLAIM.
The distinction between the act and the belief is valid. However, the rebuttal fails to address the actual historical evidence.
The archived article contained the minor-shirk statement for at least 14 months, from October 2023 through December 2024.
Furthermore, the linked article remains published and explicitly connects the minor-shirk discussion to universal masking.
Consequently, the rebuttal does not adequately address what was previously published or the theological reasoning that remains available on the website.
4. The Rebuttal Introduces an Additional Condition
The rebuttal’s own “theological clarification” restates the minor-shirk principle:
“Taking something as a means that Allāh has not made a means, and relying on it—this falls under minor shirk.”
However, this wording does not appear in any archived version of the facemasks article.
Crucially, the original statement did not contain the additional condition:
“and relying on it”.
The original wording was:
“Whoever made something to be a means (sabab) what is not a means, in terms of the creational asbāb, then he has fallen into minor shirk.”
That distinction matters because the rebuttal introduces a qualification absent from the original published statement.
So, again, which scholar spoke about this topic and said that this act is not a means
