@noentry_arts Well done for keeping it going so long and I know you made a difference.
All the best with the next phase and your new job - and I hope the health problems settle down.
Shoutout for any Eurostar issues around accessibility/ ramps for disabled people doing a Paris trip for Paralympics please!

@HarrietCannon Very grim. My mother was a teacher in the 60s and she tells of how after checking the girls skirt lengths, the deputy head would then have the female staff line up and check them likewise!
Why has modern society rejected subjecting staff to this, but is fine for U18?!
@Hanelizqui I think that was exactly how I survived mine - writing and ranting support buddies. All the best with your final phase!
Also you have got me a bit nostalgic for the regular writing and rants, maybe that’s a recipe for life not just for PhD!
@flowergirl_lon I’d feel happier if the modifier “ensuring” wasn’t there.
I want a reliable, affordable, high-quality, efficient, safe and accessible service!
No need to have safe and accessible somehow lesser.
April to mid July was ok, I could put it out my mind. Mid July the anxiety started, each day it didn’t come it got worse. In August I sent a chaser, two weeks later first contact - I thought it had arrived but it was just a note saying within 14 days.
I’m crawling up the walls!
I’ve been waiting a long time for some important news. Anticipated in April, then assured for mid July then 2 weeks ago I was told it would be emailed within the next 14 days.
Day 14 is tomorrow. I’m 50:50 on whether it will even arrive, but I really, really, really need it. 🤞
Poor travel experiences for disabled people are in the news, so what’s announced by the rail industry? - A cut in the disabled railcard discount!
Didn’t see that one coming!
Railcard train travel to offer less of a discount https://t.co/p8eR8KL6vL
Great that Labour are recognising the demand for a 4 day week, but what they're offering here is just compressed hours.
A real 4 day week has been shown to reduce stress and burnout and boost productivity. Welcome but Labour could be bolder on this!
“I know of no one else who has spent so much time simply listening, trying to understand what it is like to be #autistic.”
Oliver Sacks on #SteveSilberman (foreword to #Neurotribes).
Steve’s empathy and allyship gave me more faith in the future. Deepest sympathy to @WardQNormal.
@JamesonMoohan@jim_dickinson IMO If you are “training the trainers” you should be modelling excellence. I know from outside HE that workplace training is often dire and considered a joke, but it is such an own goal in education to have poor [staff] training rather than embedding examples of good practice.
@JamesonMoohan@jim_dickinson As a PhD student who was teaching, I turned up to a staff training event and the trainer got into a right tizzy about me being disabled and needing digital copies of materials and explained “I usually only train staff” ie reasonable adjustments were outside their scope.
