Delighted to share our latest paper on Mini-Puberty, Physiological and Disordered: Consequences, and Potential for Therapeutic Replacement https://t.co/9dbJe8Sd9D @emmaaaaa8@QMULWHRI and first of our @EuroSPE Research unit collaboration
Just for clarity, this is not true and we're not sure where the story has come from, certainly not us! Our demands remain urgent and full DDRB reform & re-appraisal of consultant pay & credible award for this year above inflation. https://t.co/6TxZcx7Kll
The Prime Minister @10DowningStreet said today "We were making very good progress before industrial action"
Waiting lists are a #PoliticalCHOICE
RT if you think this 👇was NOT "good progress" before IA & govmnt needs to change course #PayRestoration

The press is really struggling with the concept that our strike is about pay but our solution isn’t a simple number but having a fair pay review process which will truly independently decide where pay should be & how we get there. I don’t understand how that could be contentious*
So much smearing & belittling of consultants in the press, but this, from today’s @thetimes letters page, could not have put it more beautifully.
Pls RT if you agree.

Dr Lane graduated in 2002. He will have enjoyed £1K tuition fees, free hospital accommodation, & a starting salary of £26K (equivalent to £45K), when the average house price was £96K.
It’s great he can ‘live on his pay’ - but a shame others won’t have the same opportunities.
I’m an oncologist and I love my job. But I’m striking because I know first-hand that the NHS is failing our patients with cancer and I’m striking because I know first-hand that the NHS is failing its workforce. https://t.co/Liv26cn8Or #ConsultantsStrike

"Renault and Aston Martin backer Geely to launch UK firm injecting £6bn and creating 19,000 jobs"
Gosh, doesn't that sound great? Tory MPs and the RW press have been feasting on the story.
Pity it's not true.
Let's take this step by step...

Really useful analysis of a news story and how overstated claims fall apart. Short version- none of the manufacturing or R&D is in the UK, there may be an administrative HQ.

The government are ramming through this Online Safety Bill even though it is a travesty of justice which will make the UK Internet obviously less safe. 1/
I think this is a problem- ‘love it it hate it’ is giving equal weight to a savage minority position that’s pretty toxic to British society. Laura Kuenssberg: Love it or hate it, the NHS is here to stay https://t.co/ejphMkPl1T
If you want to understand why doctors strikes will not end any time soon and why this is a disaster, take the temp of doctors from contemporary surveys 🧵
The cancer-causing chemical benzene has contaminated cosmetic products in the past, often in very small amounts.
But claims that most sunscreens contain it aren’t backed by the data—we find out why, and why this doesn’t mean sunscreen causes cancer.
