A beautiful reminder that humanity should always come before judgment. The officer showed compassion while still respecting the law, and that small act of kindness may have changed this young man’s life

A white police officer stopped a young Black man’s car on a quiet street near the university and found his driving license had expired.
“Why are you driving with an expired license?” the officer asked.
The young man answered quietly:
“They just fired me from my night job. The money I have left is only enough to eat, pay rent, and cover my bills. I’m from another state. I came here alone to study at university. And I have a job interview this morning.”
The officer could have applied the law and stopped him from driving. Instead he listened to his heart. He parked his police car, gently helped the young man straighten his tie, got into the passenger seat, and drove with him to the interview.
They walked in together. The officer apologized for the delay and explained the reason.They took a selfie together and wished him the best.
The young men got the job and later received a temporary driving permit until he could save enough to renew his license properly.
That’s humanity.

My nephew Michael Hines was born with cerebral palsy. He came into this world with every strike against him, and yet he never had an unhappy day. He was a luminous soul, sent by God to teach us all how to live in gratitude and love.

He died a week before his 21st birthday in May 2024. His organs went to nine recipients and saved two lives, including the mother of an intellectually disabled child. His heart went to a nine-year-old boy.

After a lifetime of giving the gift of love, he died giving the gift of life.

A light show was held on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

The drones first rose into the night sky in a spiral, then formed the outlines of the destroyed World Trade Center towers.

The installation used 2,977 drones — one for each person killed in the attacks.
