Happy July 4th! Stay safe and don't forget your mask if you're heading out.
Every day brings more evidence on how important masks really are in fighting #COVID. Here are some reasons why you shouldn't leave home without one:

Sharing my clip from earlier today:
If cases were rising only from increased testing, the % positive would decrease the more people we tested (larger denominator). But the % positive is increasing because the virus is spreading.

The Bible says: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Philippians 2:3-4
Alaska, Montana, and Hawaii are doing very well. On average, they have to run 500 tests to find a confirmed case.
On the flip side, DC, Maryland, and Virginia need to test less than 10 individuals before finding a positive case.
The racist violence that killed George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor is not new in America. And what's captured on video represents only a fraction of the violence that Black Americans experience, some of it while in police custody.
Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Air Forces Veteran Art Wong, who was captured as a prisoner of war during a mission in Germany: https://t.co/Qs1A0c3SV3 #AAPI
“The cornerstone of any effort to get out of the situation that we are in, and to do so safely, winds up being Medicaid funding for states” - Senior Director of Health Policy @FishmanEliot. #statesneedCOVIDfunding Hear the entire discussion: https://t.co/7GLZxRKq4g
It's an especially solemn #MemorialDay.
We have also lost at least 1,161 veterans and service members this year to #COVID. Many haven't even been able to get the memorial service they deserve.
Americans who lost their lives in service:
Civil War: 498,332
World War II: 405,399
World War I: 116,516
Vietnam War: 90,220
Korean War: 54,246
Mexican War: 13,283
Iraq and Afghanistan: 8,000+

On this #MemorialDay I'm so grateful for the many brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. I pray the Lord bless and comfort their grieving families and loved ones today and always.
I made a chart of how various states are doing on testing, combining testing targets from https://t.co/WcXlfxdsbH with testing data from @COVID19Tracking.
There are 13 states that have met our testing targets, while 21 states are under 33% of target.
@TheEliKlein@CNN I do. Here's the reference from @NEJM and @JAMA_current
In a large cohort of patients with Covid-19, 81% had mild disease, 14% had severe disease, and 5% became critically ill with organ failure.

Here's the study I discussed with @brikeilarcnn today. #Coronavirus attaches to the ACE2 receptor to enter and attack cells. This study found ACE2 gene expression was lower in children compared to adults.
Might explain why kids less likely to get #COVID

@tmprowell@angie_rasmussen@mugecevik Here you go! The first release on the Korean CDC website has the results of their study of 285 patients who "re-tested" positive, but were not contagious.

“Moderna has vaccinated dozens of study participants and measured antibodies in eight of them. All eight developed neutralizing antibodies to the virus at levels reaching or exceeding the levels seen in people who've naturally recovered from COVID-19.” https://t.co/pU8T3oyrs5
